Fatigue
Fatigue is kicking my ass this week. It's really bad. Really, really, really bad. It's so hard to explain to someone what boughts of extreme fatigue feel like and how they impact you. There's a lot of, "so what? I'm tired too" mentality. But fatigue isn't just "drowsy" or "didn't get enough sleep." In fact, it's usually that you can't ever ( Read more... )

I understand fatigue very well. I have an active 4 1/2 month old, and some days all I can do is lie there.

If the fatigue is worse during your cycle maybe your iron is low that can cause fatigue. If you take an iron pill with vitamin C (either a pill or a glass of OJ or such) and do not take any calcium, the iron will work better. Calcium negates the iron.

Another option is to take calcium right before you go to sleep at night. I did not believe it could help, but so far it has helped me feel a bit better when I wake up. I have actually started having dreams again at night, and feel much more rested when I wake up, even on a bad night when I only get 4 hours straight.

You may want to try both. Either way I really hope you feel better.

I actually have an intolerance to iron. My stomach doesn't digest it properly and it makes me badly ill. I was chronically anemic for years and years before they could figure out how to help me. (I couldn't just take iron.) Iron via IV plus getting on the pill have kept my anemia under control. It's just the CFS/ME is much worse on cycle. Might be a hormone thing or something. Hard to know without being able to see a doctor.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll look into calcium.

I am sorry to hear about the anemia, but at least you have found a solution that is working for you. Maybe if it is a hormone thing the doctor may be able to find a therapy that will work for you.

I hope the calcium helps, even if it is just a little bit. I know how even a little bit can sometimes be a relief.

A dr would be helpful for a lot of things but sadly, since I don't have insurance, I haven't seen one in about five years. :(

That kind of fatigue sounds more like depression. I know that's how I get when I'm depressed. I could sleep 20 hours of the day when I feel like that.
