I'm also totally flummoxed whenever I encounter that skeptic subculture (you can get glimpses by watching some of those UFO documentaries, because often they bring in that skeptic guy who's life mission is apparently to go on television debates and try to shout down "believers" of various kinds (incredibly widely divergent kinds, like abductees and CS Lewis readers*, grouped together by the kind of myopic skepticism that pop culture actually grounds itself in ( ... )

Cool! Some really interesting stuff here.

Having survived grad school, I know what you mean about being afraid of stifling your interest in your own topic through such intense study of it, but I hope that for you (as basically happened for me) the fatigue is mostly with the research/writing action, and less with the topic. :-)

Late reply is late, sorry! Yeah I'm pretty sure the fatigue will come with the research/writing rather than the topic itself. The more I dig into TXF and fandom, the more interesting things I find.
