Yeah, we only just got one because we had an opportunity to snag a slightly mistreated one from a convention booth on the cheap. It's a fantastic console that I'm really enjoying, but I just could not get my head around spending $500+ on a toy, and can't say it'd be worth it now I have one. Fortunately, Sony seems to be realizing this--they've just come out with a $400 version and have slashed prices on the actual games.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend mooching off your roommate if you get the opportunity. :) It has been a long, long time since I've played through a game so intently simply to find out both what happens next AND how it's implemented. It's not the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel, but I think it's probably the closest we've come to a real action sandbox game yet... and it's so stylish.
