Who: Terra and Raven What: Esper!Terra crashes to the ground, only to be found by Raven. When: The afternoon of the 31st. Where: Near the lake. Warnings: Esper!Terra is not actually a pink comet.
The land was different then what she was used to seeing, and the very air seemed to sparkle with magical energy. All around her were strange beasts, and while some were vaguely human in nature, they were greatly outnumbered by the more outlandish beings. One humanoid in particular stood out, a large dark-skinned man with what seemed to be huge goat horns adorning his head. Despite his size and appearance, he had an air of kindness about him.
Still in her Esper form, Terra began to stir. Her eyelids fluttered, but didn't open.
The vision changed, and the same man was now with a human woman. Already small in stature, she looked even more petite next to him. She was smiling happily, however, and holding a wrapped bundle - a newborn baby.
"We've decided on a name." There was pride in the horned man's voice, and a tenderness that seemed out of place, coming from one so ferocious-looking. "Terra. We're calling her Terra."
"Oh, Maduin, that's lovely...!"The same pink light as before engulfed her, and moments later she was back to her
( ... )
That's right - she had talked about this with him before. It had been the first time she'd seen his serious side, though she hadn't realized just how rare that was then. She had had her suspicions when she met Schwann, but Raven's complete denial had confused her. Now that she had seen his secret with her own eyes and watched him pretend like nothing at all was out of the ordinary, things were beginning to make more sense, and she was convinced now that Raven and Schwann were one and the same
( ... )
Thankfully, the majority of his meaning had gone over Terra's head. Raven felt sick whenever he thought back to his days as Schwann. He wasn't able to pin anything down except for scattered missions, but something about him... it was easier to be someone else.
He didn't say anything to her thanks. As far as he was concerned, the truth needed no thanks. Instead, he reached down to his jacket and used the sleeves to wipe the tears off her cheek. He wasn't sure why she was crying, and he knew better than to pry.
The only thing consistent about Raven was that he was full of surprises. She certainly hadn't expected him to wipe away her tears, especially with his own jacket. It flustered her and she felt her cheeks grow warm.
Once he moved his hand away, she concentrated on sitting up in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. She moved slowly so that she didn't make things worse, then leaned back against the tree that she had nearly uprooted.
She gathered his jacket up in her arms and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "You can have this back now, if you want."
If he wasn't full of surprises, he wouldn't be calling himself Raven. He grinned as she began to turn red, but it dropped slightly as soon as she had taken off the jacket draped over her.
"Huh? Yeah, guess that didn't really matter anyway." He saw that as a true statement; he did that in order to cover her when she was naked, but she had changed back almost immediately. But then, how was he supposed to know that? He reached out and took the jacket back, one sleeve, then the other, and it was back on. Idly, he wondered what he looked like to Terra without it; it's not like he ever did without it for long.
And then it was back to business for him. "So whatcha need me ta do here? Need a healer? Need a lift back ta the apartments?"
"Of course it mattered. It was very kind of you." She watched him put his jacket back on, and despite her resolution not to pry, she couldn't help but pay attention to his chest. The strange orb was hidden well; if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she never would have known it was there. She refused to let her gaze linger, though; she had done enough damage already, and before he could notice - she hoped - she was looking away and idly pulling stray leaves from her hair.
His question made her frown slightly. "A lift? How would you go about that?"
Not only did he noticed, but his mood dropped slightly. There was no reason for her eyes to be there. Now it was obvious - she knew. With any luck, she'd take his warning seriously and stop asking about it; on the one hand, he knew that wasn't likely, but on the other, her gaze was already averted. To him, it looked like being harsh served just the right purpose.
He rather regretted her response. That was thrown out as a suggestion not to be taken seriously. His chivalrous side smacked him before he gave his response. "...huh, good point. Guess I didn't think that part through too much."
She couldn't help but wonder if he had intended to carry her back to the apartments. Surely after what had happened - and what she had seen - that would be the last action he'd be willing to take. It didn't make any sense to her. Why was he being so kind? She could understand why he had been offended at her constant prying, and even though it had hurt, she realized now that his sudden rudeness was justified.
He seemed... different, again. Had he noticed her staring? She sincerely hoped not. "I... I should be okay," she murmured. She didn't feel okay, not with her head still pounding and shaky limbs, but maybe if she rested for a while longer that would subside. "How far away is the town?"
She didn't look okay either, but he wasn't about to push the issue home. "Prob'ly... half an hour away? Not too far, but in yer condition, definitely gonna want ta take it easy."
