"After the first time? In passing, once or twice. I was told that I would have a room here, but none has shown yet."

This woman was still the strangest person he ever met. She recognized him, but never said his name, nor did she seem to recognize the name Schwann. She was incredibly concerned about someone's well-being, but then went and grabbed at his chest to prove a point. She was both trustworthy and suspicious. Yeager would have had a field day learning from her.

"I don't like this to leave my side. Please understand this." Even if it were safe, he wasn't about to part with it for any reason.

Terra nodded slightly. "I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable. I'm sorry. I won't bring it up again."

She began to walk to the door. "Shall we go buy some fish, then? I should have some money stored up."

He shook his head. "What I have in mind requires them to be as fresh as possible. Anything bought will not be sufficient. If there is a place I could easily fish, I should have enough in no time."

"You're going to catch them yourself? Very well, if you'd prefer that. Shall we?"

Terra lead him back out of the apartments and to the shore, chatting as they went. "How are you planning on catching the fish, then?"

"There's usually enough nearby to make a fishing pole that lasts at least long enough to catch a few. If not, there's always a way to get them out." It was the closest she was going to get to Schwann revealing his cards too soon - never let an enemy see everything you can fight with.

Terra chuckled softly. "You really are prepared for anything, aren't you? I guess in your line of work, you have to be." She sat down a little way back from the water, watching him with open curiosity. "Please, don't let me hold you back - do whatever you need to!"

He stood back from the water to analyze the situation. There was nothing for him to use as a fishing rod, at least as the line, so that option was out. He walked to the edge of the water and crouched down to see what sort of fish were in the water. Not the best of catches, from what he could see, but enough for dinner.

He eyed the river and noted that it was too far down for his backup plan. Time to get creative. He looked from side to side and found several rocks near the water; he picked each one up in his hands until he found one of the proper weight.

"Terra? I would suggest watching from at least fifteen feet further back."

That was when he drew his sword.

As he picked up rocks seemingly at random, Terra continued to watch him, wondering what in the world he was planning. Surely if he really tired to fish with rocks he would have starved by now. Schwann wasn't an idiot, either, that much had been clear from the beginning. So what was he doing?

She blinked at his words, completely confused. "...Excuse me?" She stood, but didn't move quite yet.

Well, if she wasn't going to move, that was her prerogative. With one fluid motion, he threw the rock high up into the air, spun due to the momentum of throwing it as high as he did, and slashed the air in front of him, yelling, "How do you like this!?"

A red beam of energy shot out in an arc from his blade, colliding with the rock in midair. The rock seemed unaffected until a red glyph appeared on the side and it seemed to faintly glow.

It was around that point that Schwann took cover behind a tree.

She continued to watch him in confusion, then interest... even if she still had no idea how he was going to catch fish anymore.

As he jumped behind a tree, Terra decided that it was probably a good idea to do the same. She quickly jumped behind a tree of her own, shooting a slightly worried glance Schwann's way.

The rock hit the water shortly thereafter with a satisfying splash. Two seconds later, a somewhat louder splash and a good spray of water erupted from the water with several fish being blasted out of the water.

After the havoc had settled, he walked out to find seven fish flopping pathetically on land. He picked up three he wouldn't need and tossed them right back into the river.

"Well, that was productive."

Terra stepped away from the tree to see Schwann tossing a few fish back into the water. She walked back toward him carefully, surveying the damage.

"Was that all really... necessary?"

"Yes."

Thankfully, he didn't quite need to cook much of anything. He reached into his coat and pulled out a knife, proceeding to gut the fish and save the best parts.

Some handwaving later, after cleaning the fish up and bringing out a few plates, he sliced the fish into very thin pieces and put them all on the plate. For Terra, just to show off, he sliced up a salmon and made a rose.

"Have you ever had sashimi before?" he asked as he produced some soy sauce to be used as a dip. "Terribly simplistic, but rather tasty with the right dip. Unfortunately, I wouldn't call this my best."

Terra sat underneath the same tree that she had ducked behind and watched Schwann prepare their meal. It was certainly interesting, even if she wasn't sure exactly what he was doing.

She had to admit, the rose was a very nice touch. She admired it quietly, smiling. "That's lovely. It seems like such a shame to eat it!"

She had never heard of eating uncooked fish. It made her slightly nervous and she gave him a questioning look. "I haven't, no. You eat the fish raw, then...?"

"That's right. Typically, the sauce is what provides any other flavoring, but it's perfectly safe to eat." To prove the point, he speared a piece of fish himself, dipped it in the sauce, and popped it into his mouth.

"Admittedly, soy sauce isn't the best for this, but it's the best I could find under short notice."
