I like the way the analysis questions the causal link and suggests other scenarios--perhaps slow language development motivates parents to turn to videos, hence the corelation.
Also, since the study is done over the phone, based on parent recollection, it is really not a very accurate measure of child vocabulary--many parents can't accurately estimate the size of a child's vocabulary (I know I kept track of words of a little while because of concerns about developement with A., but as soon as it got above about 100, it just grew too fast to keep track of.) This research just seems mostly senesational and very hard to verify, I guess...
