This is a quite lengthy, very interesting article on why, in the writer's opinion, "interactive" software is the wrong approach entirely, and user interfaces should instead get good at guessing what we want without our having to walk them through it. I'm also quite certain that I don't want my highly trusted applications (for example, my financial spreadsheet) sharing unrestricted information with my minimally trusted applications (for example, the flash ad running on the top of the map page I just opened).

I'm just sayin'.
