[He wouldn't ruin Ariadne's copy of Sense and Sensibility, of course. He simply bought an identical copy to ruin and replaced it on her bedside table. The next time she opens the book, she'll see a pretty blue box with a note attached: Will you marry me? -A]

[They'd been away on a job for the past couple weeks, and now that they were finally home, all Ari wanted to do was relax. After sleeping in late and having breakfast with Arthur, she made herself a cup of tea and had plans to settle in with her favorite book. She passed by Arthur in the living room and told him her plans before making her way back to the bedroom.]

[Arthur nods faintly from where he's sitting, glancing over yesterday's Wall Street Journal. When she goes back to the bedroom, however, he quietly sets the paper aside and follows her. He wants to see her face when she opens that book.]

[anewshade]

[Ari sets her tea down on the table next to the arm chair in the corner by the windows before grabbing her book off the nightstand and curling herself into the chair. She opens up the hardcover and starts flipping pages when she realizes something is weird. She tries to fan through the pages but can't. She frowns as she opens up to the beginning of the anomaly and her eyes get wide as she sees the box.]

Oh my god.

[Her fingers move to pull it out and she sees the note hanging from the box, her breath catching.]

Arthur... [She looks up for him.]

[aloadeddie]

[He's casually leaning against the doorjamb, hands in his pockets, a little smile on his face.] Hm?

[anewshade]

Don't "hm" me! What is this?!

[She's holding up the box, which she's still yet to open, a look of both surprise and excitement on her face.]

[aloadeddie]

Maybe you should open it and see. [He shrugs a little.]

[anewshade]

If this is some joke, I'm going to kill you.

[She carefully pops open the top of the box and her breath catches for the second time.]

Oh, Arthur... it's beautiful. [Tears start to spring to her eyes, she looks back up at him.]

Is this....for real?

[aloadeddie]

Ariadne. What makes you think that I would ever make a joke like that?

[anewshade]

[She laughs at herself and shrugs.]

I don't know, Im not thinking straight. I mean....Arthur, this ring.

[aloadeddie]

Is it really that bad? [And here he thought he'd done a good job of finding a nice one, that would suit her. That is, assuming she says yes.]

[anewshade]

Bad?! I just told you it was beautiful. Stop being ridiculous and get over here!

[aloadeddie]

Okay. [He steps forward, hands still in his pockets.] But you still haven't answered my question. It's very cruel of you, to keep me waiting like this.

[anewshade]

[She grins.]

Of course Arthur! Of course I'll marry you.

[She gets up and throws her arms around him, ring box still gripped in her hand tightly.]

[aloadeddie]

[He smiles into her shoulder, returning the embrace.] Would it be too cliche of me to suggest I'm the happiest man alive right now?

[Carefully, he pulls away, extracting the box from her grip. He pulls the ring out - sized exactly for her finger, of course - and holds it out in offering.] May I do the honors?
