Dorothy had just gotten home. She'd just gotten better. Her head stopped hurting, but now, she's somewhere she's never been before. The road is paved, even, and that's what's caught her attention. It's not brick, as she'd hoped. It's black, and it's baffling in the darkness.

Unfortunately, her little dog isn't here with her to talk to, so she only gives a sigh and begins speaking to herself. "I don't suppose this is Kansas," she says, looking around her.

It's still barren and gray in a way as far as her eyes can see, but there are colors on the horizon, bright white and red and a few in green and yellow, even. When she turns, she sees something strange on the black road. Instead of stepping out of the way, her hand moves to shade her eyes from the brightness, and she tries to put her finger on what that is.

If she didn't know any better, she'd say it was a black car, but surely cars aren't that fast.

Dean licked the remnants of the Twinkie off is fingers before tossing the wrapper aside, driving down the desolate highway. Sam had given him crap about eating so much sweets, but with Hostess going out of business, who can blame him.

Dean reaches up to rub some of the tiredness out of his eyes before blinking in surprise.

'... is that...'

Dean eased on the break, slowing down at the site in front of him. If he didn't know any better, he'd swear it was a little farm girl from the 40s. In fact, it looked exactly like... no. No that was impossible.

He stopped beside her, rolling down the window.

"Ma'am... you alright?"

Oh dear. Oh my. Oh goodness. It is a car. Dorothy takes a deep breath, looking over the vehicle thoughtfully. It's very different from the cars she'd seen in Kansas, except maybe that mean Miss Gulch, but that woman has far too much money in her pockets to matter more than a tick to Dorothy.

She swallows a lump in her throat and can't help looking over the interior. There's a wrapper at his side, and she recognizes the name. That's a new treat that's just been put into the small town store. If that's recognizable, maybe there are other things that will make sense.

She stoops in a brief curtsy, the smile on her face uncertain because, well, no, she isn't alright. "Um, hello, sir. I'm sorry. I... I think I'm lost," she says, careful not to mumble when she stands up straight. "Do you mind telling me where I am?"

She's got her fingers crossed she's still in Kansas, because at least that way she can walk home. Or try to walk home. Toto must be missing her terribly.

"You're in the sticks of..." Dean clears his throat and tries again "You're in the middle of South Dakota." He says "Not much around here... how'd you wind up here? Are you hurt?"

"South Dakota?" her voice cracks a little. At very least, she's still in the states, but at the same time, she's so very far away. It could take weeks to walk home, and she's completely ill-prepared for that. "Oh dear... I don't know, but I'm all right. I'm from Kansas, and I need to get home."

She wrings her hands. This is worse than being in another world. Auntie Em will be worried sick by the time she gets back. "Which direction is south?"

Dean blinks for a moment before pointing in the direction.

"Kansas, huh?" He asks, thinking wistfully "That's where I'm from." Well, technically. "What do you mean you're not sure? What's the last thing you remember?"

She looks confused for a moment as she tries to narrow down what had happened, wringing at her hands thoughtfully. "I remember following my dog, Toto, outside. A few of the chickens had gotten out of their coop, so he was trying to chase them. And... then I couldn't find him, and I found this... this road. I'm not very sure what happened."

Dean sighed, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel for a moment before turning back to her. He was just supposed to grab some food, have a drink, maybe pick up a chick before heading back to Bobby's to crash. Simple night. Why these things kept happening to him were beyond him.

"I'm Dean." He says, at last "What's your name?"

He seems caught in a decision, which is something she's not quite certain about. Maybe if she could get a ride just an hour south, she could continue from there. Or at least if she could figure out which direction is south, she could easily be on her way, even if it would take quite a bit of time to get to Kansas from here.

"Dorothy," she introduces, curtsying politely. Even in the middle of a strange road in the middle of what she could consider as 'nowhere', manners are a priority. "How do you do?"

Dean blinks, confused for a moment.

"How do I do what...?" He asks, before pausing for a moment, an eyebrow slowly raising "I'm sorry, did you just say 'Dorothy'?"

She opens her mouth to explain, but his second question cuts her off. She wants to pick at her skirt. She'd like to be polite, and be on her way. But that question seems peculiar. "Well, yes, sir. I'm Dorothy Gale, from Kansas," she offers in reply, another curtsy as punctuation.

Dean's eyes go wide, and he stares for a long, long moment.

No. Fucking. Way.

"Dorothy Gale, from Kansas." Dean repeats back, as if saying the words would make it any less true. How was this even possible? Clearly, the girl didn't know who she was. Didn't know she was a character from a surprisingly awesome movie (that Dean has seen more times than he's willing to admit).

Dean Winchester's life. No one would believe it.

"Well..." Dean begins, trying to regain some sense of normalcy back on his face "I don't want to sound too forward, but you shouldn't be walking out here by yourself, it's not safe. If you want, I could drive you somewhere?"

He seems more than familiar with her name. Gale must be a popular last name. Or it's Dorothy that's popular as a name. It's very pretty, even if she says so herself. Still, she tries to brush off his complete and utter surprise.

Maybe she just looks like someone he knows. Perhaps with a similar name. That would make far more sense than recognizing her. She's never seen him before, and he can't have seen her or even heard of her, unless he'd been to Oz. She somehow doubts that, however.

She offers a soft smile at his offer and shakes her head. "It's an awful long way to Kansas, and it's getting awfully late... Would you know of a place I could sleep for the night?"
