[Sure you wanna hug him?]

[Not that he'd be effected by her tears anyway. Lavi might yell at him in his head, but the original mind of the body isn't in charge. Won't be.

Joyd sucks in a breath of needed air, keeping the material on his arms, wondering if he can spread it over his entire body.

But her words...they strike an idea into his head.] So you say.

[All at once the Dark Matter falls away, Joyd's overwhelming personality, the Memory, it fades away to a bare whisper. Don't misunderstand, Joyd is still in control, still can take Lavi's body back even if Lavi fights him for it. But as the ashen color fades and is replaced by Lavi's normal skin tone it's but a temporary shift.

Lavi cries out in pain, making a choked noise since he's unprepared for what Joyd was facing. All he knew was that Lenalee was here and that she was somehow hurting Joyd. Lavi's head hangs over her shoulder.]

Le-Lenalee, ple-please...!

[The instant the Memory fades, everything in her twists unpleasantly. She goes ramrod straight, a handful of shrill words on her tongue- she knows what he's doing, it's a fucking dirty trick and she won't let him...

can't let him...

god. why.] Lavi!

[Wrenching away as if burned, only to grab up the front of his shirt again as if afraid of letting the Noah slip away if she doesn't. She can't breathe like this.] Don't run, you bastard. You can't do this. It isn't fair, it isn't-

[Oh but he's played the trick before, pretending to be Lavi while shifting to his white mode. He's quite the convincing actor but it won't work on her, not on someone who can sense him. So thus this sort of more...convincing act.

Lavi's knees give as soon as she lets go and he sits back on his feet, arms gripped by his hands and ignoring Lenalee's hands on his shirt. Instead he's gasping from the pain even as the Noah genes inside him race to fix the damage. It's not going to work well what with it being Innocence burns and with his shirt collar pulled away as it is, Lenalee will see the exorcism marks on his chest made from Allen's sword. Joyd will come back, eventually.]

Wh-why does it hurt, Lenalee?

[The problem here, too, is that she knows it's a trick but it still gets to her. She's far too volatile to handle things like this rationally- the Dressing Room really is terrible for a Lenalee, and even worse for her. She can feel tears building as a sour taste floods her mouth, and both hands tremble something fierce in his shirt. Without realizing it, she's running her mouth off in a tiny, frenetic voice:] Bastard, you bastard... why him, you could have had anyone, why him...

[And then she sees the scar and there's no way she can keep it together. She tries to gather him up in a proper hug, one of those motherly, protective ones she used to be able to give, but she's so terrified of burning him that she can't. His pained gasps grab at the pieces of her that remembers what it was like to be human (normal, alive) and wrench.]

I didn't- [Her voice cracks; she releases him and stumbles back. As if it physically pains her (it does):] Because you're a Noah.

[Because he wanted something more than just Tyki, he wanted someone that might be more useful to the family. If he had his way he would have awoken in Lavi on the lad's sixteenth birthday before he joined the Order. Then they wouldn't have known him at all. But plans don't go as they like, Bookman training was enough to keep him locked away until Allen's sword made a small wedge, then he could put more force on Lavi, get more of himself out there.

Usually cloth is enough to keep Innocence from harming him, it's how he's gotten away with using his hammer all this time. But the Innocence of an Apocryphos is much stronger than a normal weapon. Unknowing of what she is Lavi still reaches back out for her.

Only his expression falls as does his hand as she calls him that and he bows his head, hands balled into fists.] I'm not a Noah! I don't want him in my head! I don't!
