Well.... maybe to visit but not stay home...

"We~ell, true; bu' any number 'f other thengs could go wrong digging. Th'ground could also collapse on us ef we weren't careful enough."

Wwuh he feels useless sometimes when she's piloting the TARDIS and won't let him do anything to help.

Ooh, stuff. Mebbe he should investigate more!

She might do that if he quits complaining so much.

"Could do that, yeah. Not interested in a sudden swim, then?"

He shouldn't feel useless! He's the companion, going along for the ride? Enjoying himself? Being impressed? That's totally useful even when she only points at one or two buttons along the way to get him to help. Rough rides are better than none, right?

Mebbe he should! They could find games or wine or something. If they do, he'll have to promise not to throw himself at her. It might make things awkward.

He doesn't complain every time! Sometimes it's just an observation! Why does she perceive what he says as a complaint if it's true?!

"No' particularly, no." He shakes his head, chuckling some.

Well he's glad he can do those things, but he's got one or two buttons while she's putting legs up and kneeing and toeing controls in addition to pushing buttons with her hands! (And occasionally elbows!) She's tiny! He's bigger and has a longer reach! Couldn't he be more useful than one or two buttons?

Ooh, games or wine sounds like a good idea, though alcohol dehydrates rather than hydrates... Not a good thing in this weather, is it? And why would he throw himself at her? She's attractive, sure, but she's his tour guide, why mess with a good thing?

When he whines while he says it? It's a complaint! Very simple!

"Remind me not to take you to the planet of water slides then."

Of course he could do more, once he knew how to do it! But it takes time. She keeps companions for years, usually. And usually she was sure they'd never ever steal it. It does something to a person's faith when the two people you trust the most not to do something do exactly that.

People do crazy things when dehydrated and drunk, she can never be too sure, can she? He could be overcome with lust on a moment's notice and that would be exhausting in this heat.

He doesn't whine!

"Och, nouw depending on circumstances tha' could be fun. We'd be prepared f'r it, I'd hope." Eyebrow, raised! Water bottle, sipped!

Why would he want to steal it? He can barely pilot the thing! And-and-and he wouldn't know where to take the TARDIS to anyway!

That's true. He's seen plenty of punters out on a pisser, blokes and girls hitting on each other, staggering about, peeing in fountains, climbing trellises or breaking into dorms... He's seen it all. He'd really rather not risk the embarrassment.

Yes he does!

She quirks a tiny smile back. "The planet of the waterslides has many random pit traps that drop off into water slides. The point is you're never prepared."

Well! Just be a good and loyal companion and eventually he'll learn!

Good then. Not that he'd have much worry of embarrassment, she's not likely to tease him. She'd just rebuff or hold him down if he came at her. Or...not rebuff him, maybe. If he's charming enough about it.

No he doesn't!

"Well I'd expect somethin' li' that on a waterslide planet! I meant th'weather. An' it bein' a planet full'f waterslides! Anythin' else I suppose it'd be ridiculous not tae expect th' unexpected."

He's doing his best!

He'd hope she wouldn't tease him for drunken shenanigans! Not that he'd really ever get up to them! He's not really known for his technique of hitting on women while drunk, it's such a rarity!

Yes!

"The slogan of the planet is 'you'll never expect us'. Which is actually usually a pretty terrible slogan to have on a planet."

He is! Except for the whining.

Oh, so it does happen, then?

"Oh sure, et probably fits along wi' a planet whose slogan is 'Please, conquer us!' Nouw tha's terrible."

He doesn't whine! He just voices his opinion! It's his tour guide that takes it as whining!

Yyyeaaahh, it's been known to happen.

"That's an actual planetary slogan. Bit of an absurd planet, really."

There is a specific tone that whining takes, and his voice? Takes it!

So it does, huh? She'll have to keep that in mind.

He squints at her while he takes another sip of his water bottle. He's this close to a spit take when he's done, but the thought of the planet's slogan being real isn't worth the loss of water in this heat. "Seriously? Someb'dy thought tha' would be good f'r a planet?"

Is it the sarcasm? The snark? Or is it a combination? Because he could change that. Maybe. He doesn't know how she can hear him being whiny!

No using it against him. :| That's not fair.

It really isn't. Don't throw away water in an emergency situation like this one, Riley! She shrugs and smiles. "Planetary traditions are hard to shake. Sometimes people decide to commit to them instead." Take what you will from that, Liam.

It's the whining. There's sarcasm and snark and then there's whining, and he definitely does it.

Why would she even? :| And who said anything about being fair?
