[He can't see. Oh God, he can't see. There's nothing but blackness - not even inky blackness like the night sky, just complete suffocation and dear lord almighty Baby can't see.]
Help, somebody, please... [Baby choked out the words, about two seconds away from a full on panic attack.]
Aria laced his fingers into Baby's and helped him stand. He kept hold of his hand and walked with him slowly down the street. "Try to trust me, I won't let anything bad happen to you, I promise."
"...I believe you." Baby conceded, squeezing Aria's hand gently as the kind stranger led him down the street. Baby tried to keep his steps even, considering he couldn't see where he was going. Even if Baby didn't trust Aria (or shouldn't, he wasn't quite sure yet) he didn't have much of a choice in the matter.
"Are you local?" Bahy asked softly, wondering if Aria was involved with the supernatural in some way.
"Not originally, but I've been here for many years now," Aria replied. His British accent was enough to betray him as a foreigner. He helped Baby up onto a curb and stopped him. "Wait here, the bus should be along soon. I take it you aren't local?"
"No, just passing through." Baby stopped when Aria said, listening to his environment nervously. He recognized Aria's accent as he listened, and it became prominent. "Why did you move here?"
Aria hesitated before speaking, when he did eventually speak there was anxiety in his voice. "I was a street child, a rich American found me starving and homeless and brought me back here with him. I worked in his kitchens until I came of age and then he took me as his partner."
"That was nice of him...unless you didn't like him?" That happened too often; while Baby couldn't read anything besides road signs and take-out menus, Sam's face always hardened when he read about crimes like that in the paper.
"I'm sorry," Baby frowned; he hadn't meant to bring up bad memories. He didn't ask why; it wasn't really his place to ask. Instead, Baby settled for squeezing Aria's hand again, this time comfortingly.
"No, I'm single." He wasn't even supposed to be human, so dating wasn't really on his radar. Baby brushed his thumb across the back of Aria's hand, wondering what the man who'd been so kind as to help him looked like.
