The Absolute Obedience Meme

1. Post with your character.

2. That character is compelled to follow the orders of anyone who replies.

3. Any orders.

4. Any orders.

Meme Strategy: There's nothing in the rules about whether or not your character knows s/he must obey - as well, the other character might not know that s/he ( Read more... )

Shit. [Jack throws a wide-eyed glance at Jim as they stand in front of a group of aliens that weren't supposed to be back for another fifteen minutes. Either something went wrong in their calculations, or plans changed, but Jack had planned to have Jim safely out of there. They'd sent him in under cover as one of the human servants that the aliens had; they were trafficking in humans, and if Jim could infiltrate and see how the system worked, then they could steal him out and then know how to plan to break the rest of them out from there. They just had adjusted Jim's earpiece in and had gotten it online when they had come back. Shit. More shit.

Jack holds his hands up in front of him.] Alright, alright. [He turns to Jim, shooting him a look that says 'Play along, we'll figure it out as it goes'] You didn't have to call in the reinforcements, you know. One little me against all of you? Hardly great odds. You could've even handled me yourself if you wanted to, I bet.

[From Jim's earpiece, Ianto's voice, from where he's running point ( ... )

You'd like that, wouldn't you?

[He has to find a way to inform Ianto as to what's happening. Maybe they can get out of this--but Jack's chances are better against him rather than the larger, more plentiful aliens.]

It's a good thing you're here. [The aliens are welcome to think it's for their benefit.] We seem to have company.

I'd like to see you try. [Jack spits at Jim, trying to get into the spirit of being a rebel. Which he supposes he would classify as in general, but. Jim's on the same side of him, unbeknownst to the aliens.] I don't think you even have it in you, you coward. I bet you won't even try. Leave your friends there to do all the heavy lifting.

[Ianto was quiet on the line for a moment, taking it all in, catching where Jack was going there. Shit. Shit, alright] Jim. [He keeps his voice quiet] Jim... You can't let them know that you know him. You lose your cover, and they'll get you too. Don't... [He swallows] Don't worry about Jack. Just. Just do what you have to.

[Jim swallows. Ianto is right; Jack can take anything Jim can dish out. But that doesn't mean he wants to. But he narrows his eyes and lifts his head.]

They are not my friends. [He says this proudly, and follows it up quickly.] I serve them, at their pleasure. What I try will be at their behest.

[Hopefully they'll take the bait--let their new pet dish it out until Ianto can come up with something.]

[Ianto's mind is racing] Is there any way that you can get them to leave? Any way they will just let you go...? [And then suddenly, a thought occurs to him] Jim... You might have to kill him.

[Jim tries to keep the blanched look from his face. He doesn't want to do that. He couldn't kill Spock when it was life or death. He won't kill Jack.

He looks over at Jack, knowing the aliens can't see his eyes at least, and pleads with him. Aloud, he keeps his voice subservient.]

I can deal with him. Let me prove my loyalty, masters.

You can't let them get him Jim, you can't [Ianto's voice comes over the comms. Jack, you know what to do]

[Jack knows that he's going to have to at least fake it, if nothing else]

Yeah? Well. I'd like to see you deal with this...! [And with that, he throws himself at Jim.]

[Jim can't fake this part, not convincingly. Not in these close quarters. He defends himself, matching Jack. They've sparred before, and this is familiar. It has to look like he's really going to win this. Like his loyalty is unquestionable.

He's going to have to kill Jack.

His eyes apologize even as he hits Jack with a punch to the gut. He's not killed a man in cold blood like this, and he hasn't killed with his bare hands much. That is has to be his friend... Even knowing he'll come back is little consolation.]

[Jack curls around the punch to the gut, the wind knocking out of him but even still. He counters it with a blow to the side of Jim's face that is sure to send the other man reeling long enough for him to get a hold on himself. He catches the look in Jim's eye, sending one back at him, but this is the only way. And he's fine with it. He's not going to hold it against Jim. It's either this or make things a whole hell of a lot more complicated than they need to be.]

Jack. [Ianto's voice comes into his ear] I'm sorry. I'm... We'll get this sorted. By the time you wake up, we should have you out of there.e

[Jim stumbles to the side, not having to fake that one at all. It hurts, but it has to look believable. Coming out of it without any bruises won't wash.

He comes back at Jack a little more seriously, with an uppercut followed by a jab to a pressure point on the neck. He's not often killed a man with his bare hands, and he reminds himself he has Jack helping him here. But he won't forgive himself easily, or lose the memory.]

Original.

*But Jim's kneeling already, despite his sneer, and to his great surprise. He glances up at the other man, or whatever he is, trying to quickly cover his dismay.*

What is this?

*Jim glares up at him.*

You're the worst kind of being. This is what you do with your power?

*The powerful were always the most bored. It only solidifies Jim's conviction that those with too much cease to fight.*

Mostly I just kill people, but I was rereading Suetonius and now I'm in a Caligula kind of mood.

*And he'll just be, er, unzipping his pants.* Blow me.
