[Friday Night. And for once their various books and projects are laid aside so that it's just the two of them. Alone. In Liz's room. It seems it's been a while since they've had a moment completely alone...at least at a time that was also conducive to sex.

So she wastes no time, pulling off her boots and beginning to strip off her tee shirt, dropping it to the ground as she presses her mouth to Mac's.]

[OOC: Is it sad that I'm like SCREW THE RNG, it would totally be 1-1 because you KNOW Robyn would choose this moment to get picked up for shoplifting. Not that she ever chooses to get arrested, but yeah...]

[They're not fighting. They're not buried under deadlines. He's not heading off to meet anyone in the Ministry, and she's not twitching for her little vials. Everyone else is out, busy, doing something Friday-related. And they're in her room. And it has been a while.

His own shoes are kicked off easily, his tie ripped from around his neck and his fingers working the buttons of his shirt as he presses his lips back against hers hard, overeager, mind already buzzing with excitement.

And then his phone buzzes.

It can't be anyone important, he decides mentally as his shirt comes off properly and his hands can go to gripping her hips, starting to stumble them properly to her bed. And then her phone buzzes. His growl is unconscious as he breaks the kiss.] Don't even think about it, Lizzie.

[His phone buzzing she can ignore easily enough and she begins shimmying out of jeans. And normally, yes, her phone going off would be ignored too. Her mum or whatever could call back. But their phones going off in succession, that rings of something being wrong and it makes her hesitate. Who could be trying to reach both of them...?

As it buzzes a second time, she gives him a look.] Mac...

Please, Elizabeth. [It's not that the recent inability to find a time when one of them wasn't distracted or the world wasn't holding them apart is a huge problem. He doesn't love her just for the sex. He loves her mind, loves listening to her explain intricacies, loves the debates even when they explode into actual fighting. But...

He does still very, very much like and want the sex. His fingers dig into her hips, teeth briefly finding her teeth to nip.] It can-- wait, I'm sure.

[That would make two of them. She loves everything about Mac. She loves the way he throws himself headfirst into his work. She loves how he will passionately argue his side of any issue...even when clearly wrong. But she also loves his eyes. And his arms. And the feel of his heart beating close to hers as their bodies are pressed together.

And he's almost convinced her. As his fingers dig in and he nips at her, she can feel her resolve melting. She begins to nod as...

No. A third time. That is not coincidence and she reaches for her phone even as she gives him an apologetic look.] It's Robyn.

[And if she's been trying to reach them frantically, then there's no doubt what that means. She's in trouble.]

[She's folding. He can feel her folding. It's perfect. This is the best kind of winning.

...except then he's not winning anymore, because she's reaching for her phone. He's such a polished professional human being, but the growl as he rolls off her and onto the bed is entirely animalistic. And, well, cranky.]

Someone else can get her.

[Mac, that growl is not helping. Because on one hand, she wants to laugh. The idea of perfectly polished Mac growling. On the other hand, that growl does bad things to her. Bad bad things in the best of places.]

True. Yes. But you know only the two of us can talk her way out of being arrested. Well, really only you can talk her way out of being arrested.

No one's arguing about that. [It's a low cut, appealing to his pride. It doesn't quite cut the crankiness from his voice as he reaches to catch hold of her again, tug her closer and tangle his fingers in her hair again.] But what's the worst that can happen, mm?

[It's not that he doesn't care about their mutual friends. He does. Oddly compulsively, almost; something about this group they've settled into at Oxford is just... overwhelmingly compelling. But if the cost of finally, finally spending the night with Liz again is that Robyn has to stay in jail for a few hours, well... You have to break a few eggs for the omelet and all that.]

[Not fair. That is not fair. It is always harder to say no when he's touching her. But she has to say no. At least for the time being.] The worst that can happen? She goes to jail. And before you say something about how a few hours in jail won't kill her, may I remind you that Robyn is what one would call a kleptomaniac? This is not the first time this has happened and it most definitely won't be the last. And if we don't go get her, then the next time she'll have a record...

You know that can't be allowed.

[A perfectly good reason to be touching her, that; as if he needed a reason other than getting her pressed against himself again. No one else in the world feels like she feels in his arms.

No, what's genuinely not fair is having to listen to her lovely voice lay out facts, to watch her beautiful lips form logic chains and not be allowed to kiss her breathless.] She can wait ten minutes, Elizabeth, I promise.

Maybe she can and maybe she can't. Either way, we need to call her back. And then...

[She leans in, kissing him. Her fingers caressing his jaw line.] Wouldn't it be easier to just go get her? And then once we know she's back in her dorm and out of trouble, we can come back to this...interruption free?

[He loses more arguments to her kisses. Not important ones, of course; but he wasn't going to win this one anyway, really. He would hardly keep her there by force, and she was clearly digging in her heels to go.

But she was kissing him, had told him that he was special, did promise they'd come back here once Robyn was dealt with. That was hardly a promise he was going to let slip by. His fingers tighten briefly in her hair, keeping her in place against his lips a moment longer.] I'm holding you to that.

[And turning off both their phones, clearly.]

[Clearly. She would not be surprised if her phone ended up locked in a drawer for the night.

She lets him hold her them. Lets their selves have one last moment together before she's pulling away slowly and reaching for the clothes she just lost.] I'd be disappointed if you didn't.

[Or thrown in the nearest body of water. He's feeling sorely, sorely tempted to throw all communications technology they own into the Atlantic, despite the drive it would take to get there. Worth it for the satisfaction.

For a moment, his arm goes over his face as she pulls away and starts to dress again.] Would hate to disappoint, dear. [A fully resigned sigh.] Call her. I... need a minute.

[As well as that would work for tonight...they'd probably miss their phones come morning. Or if not then, then after a day or two.

She nods and presses 'redial', listening as Robyn's panicked voice fills the line.] Breathe. Breathe. Okay...where are you...? And what did they nab you for?

[She goes quiet, letting out a low whistle.] All right. Sit tight. And tell them you're not answering any more questions until we get there. Yes. I'm bringing Mac. No. He won't yell. I promise.

[Hanging up, she sets her phone on the desk and reaches for her jeans.]
