I'd love to hit you upside the head with a blunt object a few dozen times, does that count? [Jefferson asked with feigned innocence, his smile razor sharp.]

I'm surprised you were even able to respond to this. Who knew a nearly headless fool could read and write?

Shocking, I know, but almost three decades is time enough even for a 'nearly headless fool' like me to learn how to read and write. Of course, what scares me is the fact you've actually managed to convince some poor fools you're not evil incarnate and that they'd be willing to bed a viper like yourself.

That just goes to show how little you know, Jefferson. You shouldn't be surprised to find that men, and even some women, find me simply irresistible. Pain can be quite a potent aphrodisiac.

Of course, Regina, we both know you've got no qualms about using your....assets to further your goals. [The suggestive way he said the word 'assets' made it sound like she was more some common prostitute than queen.] I'd say you're nothing but poison, Regina. Pretty and deadly, but you'd probably take that as a compliment.

I would only take it as you intend it. You may want to think more carefully about what you say to me, considering that in Storybrooke, I have all of the, how did you put it... assets.

[That actually dragged a rusty sounding laugh from Jefferson who probably hadn't laughed in the better part of three decades. There was a manic, overly bright gleam in the madman's eyes as he smiled widely at Regina and made a flourishing bow.] Please, I'm not afraid of you, Regina. Or your petty power games because there's nothing you can do to me anymore. [His manic grin twisted into something akin to a painful grimace. There was nothing she could take from him anymore, she'd taken everything.]

[She glowers at him. Why does everyone make her prove them wrong? Why do they may her stoop to these levels?]

Then I suppose you wouldn't mind if that lovely blonde child across the street moved away? I could arrange to have her father re-assigned to another city. You do know what happens when people try to leave Storybrooke, don't you?

[He glowered right back at her.] Not if the rich reclusive man who keeps to himself were to offer that...father a more lucrative offer.

[A cold look entered the madman's over bright eyes.] We've stayed in this holding pattern for decades, do you really want to play this game with me, Regina? Don't think for a minute I won't put aside my differences with Rumpelstiltskin and help him make your life extremely difficult if you try and touch my Grace.

Honestly, do you think there is any sort of offer you could make that would made him give up his daughter? You were a parent, you know what that love is like.

[If he thinks threatening her with cause her to come unhinged he is mistaken. Even the mention of Rumplestiltskin does nothing to crack her cold exterior.]

This is no game. This is life... and death. Don't forget that.

I don't intend on doing anything of the sort, Grace is happy with that family and that father of hers so why would I attempt to interfere with that? [Or provide Regina with the perfect means in which to control him? Unlike most of the denizens of the city, Jefferson remembered what Regina was and knew the full extent of the curse. Which was why he'd striven to stay out of the chess match going on between Regina and 'Mr. Gold'.]

Do not think to lecture me on life or death, Regina. [He spat, the simmering rage breaking free as the unbalanced man's face twisted in an ugly scowl.] I am merely...laying out the lines. You don't go after my Grace and I won't go after what you hold dear. Let's leave our children out of this petty spat, shall we?

Now who is resorting to threats?

[Regina shakes her head and prowls a few steps closer to him.]

Why do we always end up arguing, Jefferson? We used to be such good friends.

You're the one who threatened my Grace first, Regina. [Jefferson reminded her coldly. Jefferson's jaw worked and bunched when Regina drew closer.]

That was before you deliberately screwed me over and trapped me in Wonderland. [Before, Jefferson had never been a violent man but it was all he could do to bite back on the urge to wrap his hands around Regina's neck and choke the life out of her. Hate that had been festering for the better part of thirty years burned in the insane man's chest as he glared daggers at Regina.] If you were worried about our friendship you should have thought about that before you left me to the Queen of Heart's 'tender mercies', Regina.

You thought that was a threat?

[She laughs, shaking her head as if he's said the most ridiculous thing in the world.]

You know me better than that. I was simply speculating. Thinking out loud.

As for that imposter... she left me no choice. Think about how much your little Grace loved you, then multiply it exponentially, and that is how much I loved my father. I would have sacrificed people far more important than you to get him back.
