notagentscully : I won't debate on who worries about the other more, so I'll simply remind you that I am more than capable of defending myself. But your worrying is -- sweet and your feelings for me are unexpected, but welcome all the same. (Translation: I care about you and I keep telling myself not to question why you care about me.)

loworhighest : You are a naughty enabler and I'm ever so fond of you. Even when you poke my nose when I'm sleeping. You should win some award for fancying the prickly cactus that I am.

thisis_dolce : How did we come to this? I have never had an older brother, but I suppose you'll do. (Just kidding. Thanks for the watchful eye, Johnny.)

[Aaaand he's just gonna pull her into a big 'ol Sam hug.] I'm gonna worry anyway, you know.

[tragiques]

[Wednesday looks like a cat who's just allowed herself to be petted and she eagerly returns his hug, chuckling.] I suppose I can't complain about that. I couldn't ask for a better protector.

[notagentscully]

[He's not much of a cat person, but he sure does like Wednesday. She doesn't bite him when he pets her. ... not that he's petting her now. Except he kind of is, his fingers threading loosely through her hair.] I'm glad you think so. Though it does comfort me a little to know that you can take care of yourself, just in case I can't get here fast enough...

[She just huffs a quiet laugh. Are they proof that there are always exceptions to a rule? Perhaps. She looks up at him, her arms still wound around his torso.]

And, I could, perhaps, help you one day, if needed.

[notagentscully]

You could. But I'd rather you didn't. [He's still smiling fondly at her, but his tone has gone a little more serious.]

I'm trying to avoid dragging you too far into this aspect of my life.

[Sam knows he can't hide it completely, but it's so hard to find a happy medium.]

[tragiques]

Oh, don't worry, I understand. It's your business and your -- duty, I suppose. But the offer is always there, of course.

[She reaches up to push some hair away from his forehead, only ever affectionate with him.] We could go on about this for ages, though.

[notagentscully]

I'm sure we could. [He chuckles quietly, leaning down into her touch in an attempt to make up for the height difference.]

But in case you were wondering, I do miss having this discussion with you when I'm away.

[tragiques]

It's somehow different and the same each time. I'm not quite sure how that happens.

[She hops onto her tiptoes just to kiss his cheek.] Don't miss me too much.

[notagentscully]

But sometimes missing you keeps me going... knowing I can come back here to you. [At the admission, he ducks his head a bit, arms tightening around her just a little.]

[tragiques]

[There's a fond smile now when he tightens his embrace and her eyes keenly flick over his features.] Like a gallant knight gone off to slay dragons upon dragons. I'd give you my handkerchief if I had one. I'm no maiden, though, just a girl.

I'm definitely not a knight. I really can't see me in armor. But I bet you'd look gorgeous in one of those dresses like the maidens wear.

[tragiques]

[The image makes her wrinkles her nose.] Far too fussy for me, but I'll thank you for that. I've no use for those steeple henins -- the pointy hats with the veils. [Another laugh.] We're better suited to the clothes we have.

[notagentscully]

That's what those things are called? [He's actually impressed that she knows that off the top of her head.]

I agree. I usually feel awkward in anything other than jeans.

[tragiques]

Oh. Yes. I have a particular interest in Medieval culture. [Him being impressed makes her happy. Her mind is a bank for such knowledge.]

Doesn't Dean ever make you go undercover?

[notagentscully]

[Dean is fond of reminding Sam that he's a geek, and the younger Winchester has to admit that he is a fan of knowledge and learning. He reads a lot on the road, and he appreciates that Wednesday apparently likes to educate herself.]

Well yeah, we do. It's always awkward, especially if I'm wearing a suit.
