It seems kind of irresponsible to be both a single parent and a cop. Other than that, I don't have a concrete reason.

That is true. If my job were more dangerous, I suppose I would not have adopted my son - though my desire to have a child would not have been diminished.

I don't always have normal hours. It doesn't quite lend itself to having a family. The desire is there still, yeah.
