[Dean had been quiet for a few days. Sam wasn't entirely sure why, but it could have been any number of things; the slowly reviving earth, the signs of life they saw, or his dreams about the blonde woman that seemed to rattle him so badly.

[He sidled up to him, wrapping his arms around his waist, resting his chin on his shoulder.]

[Dean had paused in the brisk walking pace he'd set... and again, spent way too much time just staring at the bright, startling green on the ground from dirt that just - couldn't be healthy for grass. But there it was.

He breathed in as Sam's warmth enveloped his body, leaning back slightly as he turned to look at him.] You okay?

[it's the first thing he says, of course. It's all he thinks about, every day when he wakes up, every night when he sleeps. Is Sammy okay. Was today bad or good. There were things even he could miss - so he had to ask.]

[He loved him so much. Sam smiled into his hair, tightening his arms around Dean's waist. Always thinking of him first, Dean was always there, always. He was the one constant in his life, the one thing Sam could always depend on.]

Yeah. 'm good. It's quiet today.

So she presses in close, wondering why he has to go, wondering why she has to go. But it was her life, this always happened, and it was just...what she was used to now.

She stiffens a bit at his words, but still doesn't pull out of the embrace.]

Yeah... [She mumbles. Dana sure hopes so, but with Sam... God, if she could count the numbers of times he had run off on her or she had lost him...and every time it was still as fucking difficult as the first.]
