My kingdom for a toothbrush. That was his only thought as he walked the beach, pissed. The taste of seawater, dirt, grit and God only knew what else in his mouth was nauseous, but only more so sickening was the suspicion that he might be the only other person on this Godforsaken spit of land in the middle of...well, nowhere.
Ethan swore if he ever made it back to civilization, he was going to personally hunt down every shareholder and executive on the board for that fucking airline and treat them to about a week of his most creative pointy punishment ever. Speaking of, at least he still had his knives and one machete he'd found floating among a bit of debris.
First order of business, look for survivors, then secondly, find water. Shelter and food could wait. But not for very damned long.
Because we are mean let us go with the past meets present idea we were kicking around.graceandwitFebruary 20 2012, 09:21:00 UTC
Not the only survivor, no, though the other one - when he eventually finds her - will be lying back, dazed, trying to figure out just where the fuck she is and how she got there.

So, dragging her out of the sun and into shade further up the beach hadn't worked, therefore Ethan tried shaking her a bit, eventually slapping her lightly to bring her out of the shock.
THEY ARE THESE THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE :|||graceandwitFebruary 21 2012, 00:59:52 UTC
"Ow, Christ -- " there is a definite whine to her voice, though to be fair her body feels like someone has taken a bat to it and even someone like her has to have limits. "Stop, for fucksake."
Evidently, God. /sadfaeccutslikeaspadeFebruary 21 2012, 01:03:51 UTC
Well, she was conscious. Sort of. Ethan sat back on his heels and rubbed the side of his face, still fuming but only moderately so. But fuck, it was hot.
Nope, sorry. Time was a'wastin'. And Ethan didn't have time to coddle her right now.
"Tegan. Did you hear me? We need to get up and get moving. Now." God knew what else waited for them elsewhere, if previous events had been any indication.
She blinks and then blinks again. "There was..." something, something important but it hurts to think about so she's just going to try to concentrate on what he's asking.
It was a mark of his preoccupation and distraction that he didn't quite catch the "difference" in the female in front of him.
"Not sure. Somewhere in the Pacific is about as good as I can figure right now." This definitely sucked. "We need to get back to the wreckage before the tide comes in and salvage what supplies we can."
He led her back to the piles of debris still floating near the shore and waded through what he could, pulling out whatever might be usable later and giving it to her to trot back up the beach.
By the time sun started to set, they had enough rudimentary supplies to at least gain a foothold on survival and Ethan finally collapsed in the sand for a minute, almost worn out. But they still had to find fresh water, and some sort of shelter before dark.
"Hey," she's hovering - awkward for the first time since regaining consciousness. It's begun to dawn on her that she may well die out here - that she does, in fact, owe her life to this guy whoever he may be. So she will be not-so-gently prodding him with her boot.
"Can't rest just yet. Not unless you want to sleep on the beach."

"C'mon, sit up. We gotta find water, and soon."

Just...give her a moment to gather her scrambled brains long enough to formulate an appropriate response.

God, this sucks.

"Did you see anyone else around? Tegan!" And shook her a bit. "I need to you focus, carina. Because I don't plan on dying out here."

"No. I don't think so. What ...where are we?"

"Always knew I'd hate flying." Which is as close to an agreement as he's likely to get.
