You Should Have Knocked
So everyone has had this moment in their life, the one where they were so impatient or absent minded they went flinging a door open when they really shouldn't have. Sometimes its not your fault, how could you know your housemate and his girlfriend were having sex on the kitchen table!? Othertimes someone was in the bathroom ( Read more... )

BWAH. YOU DIN' SAY ANYTHING. DID I... OHO whoops! scots_fuzz January 8 2012, 12:07:01 UTC
[Well. Bombs come to mind, but that's probably not quite the same as finding the other in a state of undress. Bwuh--The shoulder-punches and pats on the back aren't necessary but they'd be appreciated! Also, how much higher than his current steady paycheck are we talking? Cuz, well, he could always use the extra dosh.

Ne'er ye mind. Let's just say Liam's about as talented as stick figures.]

Tha's fair, I s'pose. [He finds the trick of the clasp and hooks the loop in, making sure it'll stay for her.] Och, no. She's a swee'heart bu' we were never involved li' that.

[That's nothing like bursting in on her in her knickers. At all. He could have blown up the planet. Really? He wants her to work those in then?

It's Torchwood, their main contributor owns Czechoslovakia, how much higher does he think it is?

And stick figures it will stay for his own good.] Then I can't see how you'd have less influence with the Glasgow PD than London Torchwood agents?

[Well he didn't blow up the planet, did he? They're--no, he doesn't want them, really, but they're ~nice~, he likes pats on the back!

Well. There's the pittance that the London Metropolitan Police (or any PD) doles out, and then there's everything else. It's not like he's asking to fund an Aston Martin DB9 or anything. Just a general idea would be nice!]

Well I left on a sour note, there's a few former colleagues 'f mine that. Well we just didnae see eye to eye on a few cases. [Most notably the one regarding his sister's death. He thinks she was murdered, they didn't.]

[Fortunately. That time. Through sheer luck. He shouldn't be so insecure!

Torchwood pay substantially for special missions. He might be able to afford a vacation to brush up on skills or something instead of police work. Is that a good enough idea?]

Were you dismissed? [She probably has records, but it would be rude not to ask.] Is there a reason you think your presence will hinder Torchwood?

[He's not insecure, he doesn't need the pats on the back, it's just. Nice every once in awhile!

Oh. Well in that case. Getting DCI pay (or... higher?) at around a DI's workload or less? Not so bad.

He leans back on a closet corner, crossing his arms again.] No, I left the job behind. [Because reasons. Leave it at that, thanks, Rose.]

[She pats people on the back every once in awhile! Don't be so needy, DI Riley!

Good then, he might want to stop complaining about it.]

Then you're coming with. [She turns back to him, hand on her hip, with an expression that just may be daring him to challenge her.] If you haven't been sacked and you're not about to be arrested for shagging the DCI's wife, then you're still the best option we have. I'm not asking you for a transfer, I need an escort to deal with the local police.

[Alright, fine. See if he ever tells her anything nice.

Did he voice any complaints about the pay? No--He was just curious about what he'd be getting!

Oh he is, is he?] Oh. Well then, I cannae argue wi' that. [Well. He could, but she seemed like the type of person who would continue to push until she got results. And he didn't feel like being entirely contrary today.] Especially if, as you say, it's only temporary.

[She bets he will.

Don't snoop! It's Torchwood, it's the one place that doesn't skimp!] It's only temporary. I haven't got any interest in living in Glasgow, either. We'll have a hotel set up for the stay, we won't be there longer than two weeks at most. [Yeah. We. Just in case she wasn't clear.]
