[Rory woke up, the sunny day promising warmth, a January thaw, something to look forward to. He leaned over his bed, but Sam wasn't there, probably down at breakfast. May as well get going. He gathered up his clothes, went to the linen closet for towels, then headed towards the bathroom. He could hear Britt singing in her room so he assumed the bathroom was empty and opened the door without knocking.
He blinked, frozen in place. The bathroom wasn't remotely empty. Sam was standing there, soaking wet and naked. Completely and totally naked. Which should only have been embarrassing, for both of them, but it caused an unexpected fluttery feeling that traveled through his stomach up to his heart, making it beat erratically.] Oh! Sam! I'm sorry, I should have knocked! I'm sorry!
[He said quickly, ( ... )

eta: Editing this now I'm not on a crappy phone keyboard and not in tense fail. Sorry for the double tag.]
[There is an awkward moment as Sam's brain fully wakes up and processes the situation. During that seemingly long moment he can't really do anything but stare at Rory in surprise, though he is grateful when Rory holds out his towel. Right, towel. He steps forward to take it.] Thanks. No, no! I should've locked the door.
[He wraps the towel around his waist and gives Rory a crooked and embarrassed smile.] I'm just glad you weren't Brittany.
[He reaches up and brushes his wet bangs out of his eyes.] Sorry. Probably not the first thing you want to see in the morning.
[Yeah, great Sam. Talk about it more.]

No, it's fine. It's nice. No, I don't mean nice, I mean... [Rory's face is turning red and he's getting tongue-tied, is this a normal reaction to seeing a friend naked? Not in his experience. He went to an all boys' school at home, never had this reaction before in the shower room. But if it was just Sam, that meant...he had no idea what that meant]
[Without really meaning to he stepped forward and patted down the little cowlick that sprung up when Sam moved his bangs, then put his hand down fast.] Er, sorry. It was sticking up, and I had to touch it. [he blinked, yeah, that sounded good. Brilliant.]

[Rory's reaction isn't exactly what Sam expected. He's been in the shower room with the guys plenty of times. It's not like everyone goes around looking at each other, but then again most people don't exactly go around hiding things either.
He feels his own face warm a little bit at Rory's embarrassment. He he actually just said it was nice? But then again Sam had caught him off guard. After all, anyone who had... oh, was Rory... was there something wrong with Sam's body? Was Rory trying to overcompensate by telling him it was nice?
Sam's smile fades as Rory steps closer and smooths down his hair. There had been something oddly intimate about the gesture. Something that Sam knew should've made him feel uncomfortable, but didn't. He swallows, reaching up to smooth down his hair where Rory just touched it and looking self-conscious.] Yeah, it does that sometimes...
[And then, because he thinks he's supposed to say it.] This is kind of weird.

Oh. I...should go. I...um, yes. [Rory stammers out, putting his clothes down. He's obviously going to come back later, not just strip down now and get in the shower. Not with Sam just standing there, in a towel, beads of water from his hair running in tiny rivers down over his chest...okay, he had to leave.]
[He flickered his eyes up to Sam's for a moment, giving him a small smile, then left the bathroom, quietly clicking the door shut behind him, leaning on it a moment as he inhaled and exhaled a long breath. Weird was a good word for whatever was happening to him.]

Sam furrows his brow in confusion at his own thoughts, though when Rory catches his eye and gives him that small smile, one feeling moves to the surface. The surprise of it freezes him for a second, because it's completely unexpected and before he's recovered from it Rory has disappeared, shutting the door behind him.
Sam moves forward quickly, swinging the door open.] Rory, wait--
[But it's really unnecessary, because as the door swings in, so does Rory.]

He wants Rory to stop apologizing. None of this is his fault and he's afraid that his own silence is filling in the gaps with doubt and awkwardness. The only reason Sam doesn't speak is because he's not sure what to say.
So he does the next best thing instead and lets his mouth do his thinking for him. He leans in and kisses Rory.]

He pulls back a little bit, surprised, breathing fast, blinking. Part of him wants to flee to the safety of his bedroom, this is new territory, nothing he was prepared for. But if he is honest with himself, this is something he has wanted for awhile now, his feelings for Sam stronger than just friends since they spent the holidays together.
Rory gives Sam a small smile then tentatively leans in to kiss him back, soft and slow.]

He's about to apologize, his face rapidly warming in the small pause when Rory smiles. One of the soft ones that makes him look - well, Sam doesn't really know what other way to describe it - pretty and thoughtful and kind. It's so Rory and when he leans in to kiss Sam back, Sam finds himself relying on the wall behind him for support. He doesn't know how this is happening, but he's grateful for it.
His hand reaches out for Rory's shirt, gripping it lightly as if to hold him there. Everything is happening too fast and is too good, he doesn't want it to slip away. Sam leans back, resting his head against the wall and looks back at Rory.] I, uh. I'm not dreaming. I mean, this is really happening, right?

[He nuzzles his nose against Sam's, kissing him again softly. He had no idea if this moment was going to last, or what will happen afterwards, so for now, he just wants this memory, to hold and keep in his heart. Something beautiful and perfect. Handsome, sweet, funny, adorable Sam.]

[Sam feels a little guilty now. His impulse has robbed Rory of all of the romance and nervous anticipation that should've come with it.] I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just... [He furrows his brow.] I mean, I'm not sorry for doing it, I just... If I had known it was your first kiss, I probably would've done it differently.
[He looks around.] Like, not in a bathroom. Or wearing more than a towel.

[He smiled again, his eyes lighting up as his grin turned mischievous.] However, if you feel badly, I won't stop you from making it up to me, and kissing me again, somewhere else, at another time.

[His smile widened as he met Rory's eyes.] I did promise to be your Valentine's Day sponsor, didn't I? [He swallowed and took a deep breath, trying to gain control over himself. I should probably let you shower... But afterwards, we could, uh... prepare for the big day. [He grinned.] Practice makes perfect.
