Martha hadn't been to a New Year's Eve party in years. Well, there really was no telling how long it had actually been come to think of it. Her friends had dragged her to this one and promptly ran off to find their respective men for midnight. Martha found herself alone in a corner watching people dance. She thought about just going home, but it was quarter to midnight. She could at least bring in the New Year and then go home.

Carson hadn't, either. His past two new years have all been on Atlantis. The first because they couldn't get back to Earth, and the second because he was on duty in the Infirmary.
Still, once he got back home, some of his friends decided to drag him out to a party to see in the New Year. Again, they'd pretty much ditched him as soon as they saw women, so Carson was leaning against a wall, with a bottle of beer in his hand.

Martha stared at the clock, willing it to move faster. 10 minutes now.... A sigh... 5 minutes til midnight and she dropped her gaze from the clock to sweep the room again.
She smiled as she caught sight of a familiar Scottish face. Suddenly the party didn't seem like such a lost cause. Martha pushed herself off the wall and made her way through the crowd to the piece of wall real estate that Carson had staked claim over.
