"I just want to know, if we do manage to find our own place, is Alfred going to insist on a manservant for some reason?" Bart asked.

Psh, please. You and Bart have much love here! angryredbird December 31 2011, 12:26:34 UTC
Tim's thoroughly amused by Bart's question, though, no matter how unexpected. "Make sure the place is tidy often. He'd insist on anonymously checking in. But with your speed, that shouldn't be so hard, now should it?"

His fingers are still ticking and tacking away on his laptop's keyboard. "How do you plan on a finding a place of our own, exactly? We're not exactly of age." Although, Tim was an emancipated minor himself.

"I suppose it really depends. If Tim Wayne is on the lease, I doubt anyone would dare ask for a cosigner," Bart said, frowning. "We're still straightening out some of the wrinkles in my paperwork from the last few years of crazy. I'm thinking of getting my GED and maybe applying to college."

He's setting the laptop down now, shifting to look at Bart, reading. "Everything will work out and you're doing what you have to do. Also, I'll sign as Tim Drake if it really bothers you?"

"I just meant that being adopted by a billionaire has certain perks. And with either name on a public record, we'll have to plan for the press," Bart said, shifting so that he could look at Tim better. "I really don't care what we have to do, but it'd be nice to have a place that was ours."

"Hm. I guess I handled the press fairly well when everyone believed me and Tammy were getting married." That actually might have been his fault in the first place. "I guess the question is, are you ready?"

"The only problem I can see is what people will make of my background," he said, smiling slightly. Then something hit him. "You know, some of your ducking the press might be justified if they find out we're...together."

Bart wasn't sure he would want their relationship to be out there for the world to see, but it might keep other parts of their lives safer. "And like I said, it'd be nice to have our own space. I could always take a bunch of online classes to be around more."

"You've been thinking about this for awhile now, I see..." Tim said, probably stating the obvious. "Before this gets too complicated, I should probably ask if you want a public relationship. Shoe on the other foot."

And Tim dodged the press whenever he got the opportunity, anyways, way before Bart. If they found out, let them say what they must until Tim gave them an actual statement, but Bart's answer would determine if he'd have to or not.

"I have been spending a lot of time running between here and Keystone," Bart said, shrugging a little. "I'm not sure how I feel about being out. Call it possessive. But I'm not ashamed of this or anything. Some of the Titans know, I think. Your family. Wally is really hoping this is just a phase.

"I know whatever we decide, it's going to be us. Together. That's the most important part."

And then there's a slight frown, making a note of staying clear of Wally from now on. He didn't want to be accused of...'converting' his cousin or something. Then again, Bruce wasn't that easy to deal with either, having updated data on Bart for the second time this week. Tim runs a hand through his hair and nods.

"Right. Well, at least those closest to us know," and whether or not they agreed with it didn't matter. "No one else has to know if you don't want them to. But you know this isn't just effecting our personal lives..."

"Because you have Gotham to worry about, right?" Bart asked, figuring the other side of their lives, the one kept behind masks would be nearly as important. "I think that's another reason why being Kid Flash again is nice. Nobody really expects to see much of me, or even think much of me. So I can show up in San Francisco on weekends, and the rest of the week is my own."

He didn't know how Tim would take that, and he knew Bruce wouldn't be pleased with him living in or near the city. And then a thought occurred to him. "It's probably best if I spend as much time as possible off-duty, and I just realized a way we could have met. You vanished into Europe for a good while. Maybe we both spent some time abroad in those youth hostels you always hear about. At least as far as anyone needed to know. Because the only other time I can think of where our normal lives intersected was that ski trip ages ago."

"Well not entirely because of Gotham." Though he had to admit, it was a pretty big part. His brows furrow and sighs at Bart. "That's not true, you know that's not true. And here's an idea, we could always find a city of our own?" Tim suggests. "I mean, Dick found Bludhaven to be his own, why can't we? You wouldn't have to restrain yourself from being Kid Flash."

Even if Gotham did have enough vigilantes protecting it, Tim wouldn't deny he'd feel some sort of pull if he left it behind for too long.

"Great, my new beau is European now," he teases gently. "What's wrong with using the Ski trip as our meeting place?"

"Nah, American doing the whole backpacking thing. Like Kerouac," Bart responded, grinning. "As for finding our own place, it'd have to be pretty close. Unless you want to be calling me when you need to be somewhere in a hurry."

He shrugged about the ski trip. "It could have been the first time we met, but it's a little young to base rooming together on. I've read plenty of tabloid press to know that. We ended up hanging out, finding out we had a lot in common, that kind of thing."

Finding their own place, though, a new city. "Tim Drake could buy a few years by going off to college, although it'd probably have to be somewhere with a big name."

"Yeah, about college," Tim starts uncertainly. He leans back in the chair and lets himself spin for a moment. "I barely attended grade school after the whole Darkseid smoking Batman thing... I'm not sure I have time for it, not now at least if we were to stay here in Gotham."

"And where would you suggest moving?" Bart had to ask. "If we were to strike out on our own."
