My love! And 11?notantheaDecember 15 2011, 03:01:04 UTC
[ Who's that standing in your doorway? Why, its everyone's favorite Blackberry-addicted-PA. And she's holding something behind her back. "Anthea" smiles in that coyly secretive way only she can smile. ]
Darliiing~! oh how I've missed you~deducing_freakDecember 15 2011, 05:02:04 UTC
[Strange, he wasn't expecting any company this evening. So it's quite the pleasant surprise when the detective hears his name, only to look up and find her standing there.]
Evening.
[And because he's such the gentleman, he stands up to greet his unexpected guest.] This is a little sudden. I didn't know you were stopping by.
<3 My life sucks like that. Do you want to continue the other one too? Its whatever.notantheaDecember 15 2011, 05:13:24 UTC
That's because I wanted to surprise you.
[ She walks inside, leaning up to kiss his cheek gently in greeting... then reveals the small, rectangular shaped present she's been hiding behind her back. Its not exactly light, so probably not jewelry, but also not terribly heavy, either. ]
No matters to me bb. Work has been KILLING me with these holiday hours D:deducing_freakDecember 15 2011, 05:55:21 UTC
Well I'll say you've certainly managed to accomplish that.
[Good job. It's rare that anyone ever gets to surprise him. Typically Sherlock isn't a fan of such things, since he usually finds a way to ruin it somehow, but this was nice. The small kiss earns a smile from him in return.
The small box was somewhat expected, given the holiday season. But he hadn't thought that she would have gone out and troubled herself with getting him a gift... even if he did sort of do the same thing.]
You really didn't have to. [He says even as he's taking the box. Of course the detective is going to try and figure out what it is before he even opens it, but that's just his curiosity. He's been told that he's a rather difficult man to shop for.]
I haven't forgotten you, I promise. My life hates me right now. Holidays, gah.notantheaDecember 18 2011, 05:54:04 UTC
[ Anthea is pleased, of course. She enjoys surprising either of the Holmes brothers when she can, which isn't easy, since they are both so very good at deducing. Sherlock has yet to figure out her real name, however, which is something she enjoys hanging over his head every once in a while. Mycroft knows, being her boss and all, but he hasn't revealed it to anyone, even his little brother. ]
I know. I wanted to. Go on then, open it... unless you can deduce what it is, first.
[ He might be able to, she wouldn't put it past him. But when he does open it, he'll find a sturdy magnifying glass, which would appear to be a reproduction of one from the 19th century but in fact is actually a real antique, gold-plated with the handle handcrafted with a small skull at the base. ]
I saw it and thought of you. Not that you'd need to use it, of course, but I'm sure it will make a lovely paperweight. [ Her eyes twinkled in quiet amusement. ]
Its fine hun. I've been pulling 50 hour work weeks. So yeah. D:deducing_freakDecember 18 2011, 08:28:59 UTC
[Don't worry. It's not like he has completely given up in that quest. As much as he may despise talking to his brother, there had been a couple rare instances of desperation where he actually asked his older sibling to reveal her name. Alas, the stubborn goat had sworn himself to secrecy. Which was to be expected, but at least Sherlock could say that he tried.]
That a challenge?
[Because Sherlock isn't one to turn down a challenge. He'll inspect the box a bit closer though.]
A relatively small item. It has weight, but not significantly heavy per se. Most of the weight is to one side. I'm assuming it has a handle. Metal. And knowing your finer tastes it would be easy to say gold. Can't be jewelery, so this is more of a novelty item.
[Alright, so maybe he didn't guess what it was exactly but that maybe have ruined the genuine look of admiration on his face when Sherlock finally opened it. And much like the child that he was, of course he had to use it right away, already peeking through the lens in order to examine the gift box.
( ... )
[ Anthea listens to his deduction without giving anything away, and waits calmly until he's opened the present. Her smile widens a bit as she watches him, a soft laugh even escaping her lips. He really is like a little kid on Christmas. ]
I have my... connections. It was easy enough to obtain for you. I'm glad you like it.
[ Okay, she's far from naive, but he is a good actor, and he sounds just casual enough that she turns to see what he was directing her attention to. Confused, she looks back, and her brow raises in surprise at the sight of the little box. Shaking her head lightly, she flashed him a chiding, but fond look. ]
Why, Sherlock, you really didn't have to. [ She arched a brow up at him. ] I'm not guessing what it is. Unfortunately, you and your brother have not rubbed off on me during my services to you both. Lovely wrapping, though. Did you do that yourself?
Well no, I suppose I didn't have to but... I went and did it anyway.
[Oh let the man have some fun. Granted the holidays weren't really his thing, Sherlock wasn't entirely a Grinch either. Besides, it wasn't like be bought presents for everyone, just a small select few. So yes, go ahead and feel special.]
Gift wrapped, actually. But I'd like to think the contents were somewhat obvious. Given the small size of the box. The very distinct pale blue color.
[But Sherlock is going to stop himself there. Of course he knew what it was, he bought it. A small box for a woman, meant jewelery. That particular color of blue, obviously Tiffany's. So before he gives too much away, he'll hand over the box and give her the honors of revealing it's contents.]
WOW the price. He went all out. LOL.notantheaDecember 18 2011, 22:33:50 UTC
[ Anthea did indeed feel special. Sherlock never fails to surprise her. Her own smile takes on a new sort of quality, the one of a child receiving a gift prior to Christmas. And, well, she rather did enjoy being spoiled from time to time as well - Lord knows Mycroft treated her well, as far as 'PAs' went. Her brow rose lightly as he spoke, and as he did, she already had an idea of what it might be, but she didn't want to get her hopes up. Unwrapping it quickly, without just ripping the lovely wrapping, she managed to get it open. Inside, of course, was the small box, and of course an idiot would know by now that it held jewelry.
But that still didn't prepare her for what was inside.
Her mouth fell open in a soft gasp as she pulled out one of the pear shaped, diamond earrings. Tiffany's & Co. For a moment, it was quite possible she'd forgotten how to breathe. Earrings like these? Not cheap. She looked back up at him, shaking her head in soft disbelief. ]
He saved up all his allowance xDdeducing_freakDecember 19 2011, 03:05:54 UTC
[It was a rare thing really, to watch her smile like that. A genuine smile anyway. Much like his own. Not very many people would ever witness such a wonder, so of course he had to be proud of himself for being able to achieve such an award.]
A necklace or a bracelet would have been too obvious. And rings are a bit more personal. So I figured this way, since you usually wear your hair down like this... [Sherlock says that as he reaches a hand up to tuck the hair behind her ear.] ..you could wear them whenever you like, without attracting too much attention.
[He can't help but to smile when those arms come around him, and he's returning the affectionate gesture without giving so much as a second thought.]
[ Oh, Sherlock. You're in trouble. Anthea's expression has softened, her arms tighten around him, and she doesn't immediately let go. Her lips murmur into his ear, cheek pressed lightly against his. ]
You thought of everything, Mr. Holmes.
[ She blames it on him being such a gentleman and spending money on such a thoughtful gift. When a woman works as much as she does, and puts as much of her time and effort into that job, she doesn't have time to have a normal boyfriend. Of course, he's not that, but there's no denying her affectionate feelings for him. Pulling back just slightly, she smiles up at him gently, then leans forward to press her lips against his. Well, the man had bought her diamond earrings, after all. It was the least she could do. ]
...Mycroft gives him allowance <___< loldeducing_freakDecember 19 2011, 07:05:33 UTC
[Expecting a simple form of affection like a hug, he was a little surprised when she lingered there longer. Even more so when that hold of hers tightened the way it did so fondly around him. Not that Sherlock would complain of course. Especially when she feeds into his ego like that.
Why yes, yes he did think of everything. Thank you for noticing, Anthea ...or whatever your name is this week.]
Yes well, that's sort of my job. [He mutters that quietly before her lips come to find his. That's when his arms come around the tapered waist, still holding onto his toy of course, because he's a child and not yet ready to let it sit just yet.]
Evening, Sherlock.
