A small knock on his beloved's door.]

[ Ran soon opens it, looking out. ]

Jack?

...you look upset. Come in?

[Oh, did his wibbly lip and tears give it away?]

Ran. I have some...unfortunate news.

Come sit down, and we can talk about it.

[ Ran takes Jack's hands, leading him to the couch. ]

Ran, you know how much I love you. You know how much I want to be with you. You know everything about me, and you've cared for me in sickness. You've been...a very wonderful boyfriend to me.

[Come on Jack. You can do this. He knows his family sent him to break up with Ran. But hell if he's losing the best thing that has ever happened to him.]

. . Long story short. [Choking on a sob.] My parents...they don't approve.

[ Ran had been bracing himself for bad news. Jack's words were sweet, but what was he really here to --

Oh. Ran clasps his hands in his lap, watching Jack carefully. When did his heart start beating so fast? He would think even Jack's hearing could pick up on the way it pounded. ]

I... see.

What do you...want to do?

[tangledlocks]

I..I want to stay with you! Ran, I don't want to leave you, and..I won't. We're going to work this out, okay?

[Jack leans forward,kissing Ran gingerly.]

[ Oh. His lets out a breath of relief, then kisses Jack in return. ]

All right. We will.

[tangledlocks]

T-thank goodness. I thought you were going to be mad. I really did. I should know better than to assume anything like that from you my angel.

[Jack was really thankful to have Ran. He should know he was a very lucky man at this point.] I love you, and not even my disapproving family can change that.

Why ever would I be mad at you, Jack?

[ Ran gives him a small smile. ]

I am just...happy. That you are wiling to stay with me.

I can't even imagine why. . .I guess I got really scared.

[Jack feels so much better. .]

I don't care what my parents think of me. I really...don't. You're my love. We just need to figure this out.

It is all right.

[ Ran reaches forward to cup his cheeks in his hands, stroking the soft skin with his fingertips. ]

Why is it that they do not approve of me?

[As usual, Setsuna is just either at his room, the hangar, or the cafeteria. But today, without his blue uniform jacket, he's lying down on his bed, staring out the glass pane next to him.

The black sky of space, full of glittering sights... It's the normal sight that Setsuna usually sees, no matter if he's on Earth or so. It's always the same night sky. It's calming. Even for just these small moments, it feels like the universe is at peace.]

[ The universe's peace is about to be shattered, at least for Setsuna. Though the knock on the door is gentle, and then Ran's voice comes through: ]

Setsuna? It is me. May I come in?

[To that call, Setsuna sits up. Instead of vocally replying, he personally stands to the automated door and clicks it open.]
