[She reaches for Jack's hand, then drops it, then grabs it again, then practically tackle hugs him.] God, we have the worst timing in the universe, you know that.

[Yes, she's stalling.]

[Liz closes her eyes, rubbing her face against Jack's chest.] Don't. Don't tell me why you didn't, please. I already feel bad enough that we wasted so much time waiting and now we're going to have to hurt someone else to... [She breaks off, nearly crying] Damn it! Why can't things just be simple? Why can't we just live happily ever after!?

*dances with*

[Jack sighs again]

I had to burst a bubble, but happy endings aren't ever easy to come by and they rarely last.

I thought the boyfriend's job was to lie to the girl and tell her all the things she wanted to hear?

[Liz is kidding, sort of. God, she wishes that was the case.]

[and now she's going to shove Jack to make him go in there first. What? she can't be brave about everything.]

[Jack carefully glares at Liz but enters the room calling out]

[Liz is practically cowering behind Jack. A couple of cats dart around, and the TVs are all on but Red doesn't answer so Liz grabs Jack's hand and whispers.]

Oh well. Not home. Guess we can't tell him.

[she yanks on Jack's hand even though you can totally see HB's shadow on the far end of the room.]
