re la times, here's my hypothesis: the media decided obama had to be elected and they would do whatever it took. they would suppress themselves from asking or answering natural questions. now that's he's in, they are allowing themselves to be somewhat more questioning.

they simply decided the time was right, the populace was ready for a leftward shift (which as we know is difficult if not impossible to undo) and they wanted to get the world to like us better.

i think you're right about this dynamic - certainly the pointing-to perfuntory criticisms of obama has been already been done.

i hope someone preserves the treasury of media evasion and bullshit that was the election of 2008.

Unfortunately, each year new young and clueless enter the ranks, the old and experienced die, and we live in an increasingly (what's a word for living only in this minute?) society. Ask anyone under thirty why Clinton was impeached. The answer will be "because of a blowjob." Ask why we bombed civilians in the Balkans. The answer will be, "We did what to who where?"
