Ben Stein, brilliant as always offers some points on the war in Iraq, civilian casualties during war, Haditha and more.
I don't entirely agree with him, as I believe war is war and we should either unleash our military or not use it, as in WWII. But he makes excellent points.

great post. that article definetly touches on a lot of my frustrations with the republican party. The party is VERY diverse and unfortunately that means that it's become more liberal in the process.

Frankly I have to agree that the spending has gotten out of hand. I WON'T agree that giving to seniors is too much. We should take care of the elderly. We should also KILL social security as it currently stands. Social security is the largest chunk taken out of my check and I'll never see ANY of it.

socially secure WHAT? FUNDS FOR SOME IDIOTS CAMPAIGN? Bite my hairy white buttocks.

Thank you.

Yes AND no? :) It can very easily get out of hand. In the interest of full disclosure, though, I guarantee you, you and I place entirely different values on life.

The first, best way to take care of the elderly is to efficiently educate our people.

Agreed.

I wouldn't mind SS IF two things took place:
1) It was held in its own account and the government couldn't touch the money. Right now it's a scheme for more tax money they squander, and most Americans don't know it. (Thanks Bush, for your fine leadership and communications skills!)

2) I could will the money to anyone I choose. Since I don't get it unless I live to and through retirement, it's a ripoff. That money is MINE, dicks!

:)

we probably do on the value of life differ a bit.

Personally I see the elderly as rather defenseless in most cases as once you hit a certain age you're unhireable so you're unable to earn an income in many cases. It can get out of hand but then anything can.

hell the constitutions gotten out of hand with them mixing and matching words to bend it to mean exactly the oposite of what it was created for. It's down right scarry.

And please don't think I lack respect for your opinion even if we disagree. I'm not godly and pretty openly misanthropic by nature, and realize niether are healthy.

(Speaking of which, I may shortly be posting some insults toward Catholicism, I saw no evidence you're Catholic, but please know I mean no offense in advance if you are. The topic just angers me.)

I don't disagree. I will offer, though, the decisions one makes in life prior to becoming helpless and elderly can avoid much hardship. People need to be better educated to prepare them.

As you say, one just has to find the reasonable line.

You're not going to believe what I have on my computer right now.

Did you read the post I put up about that group of scientists in New Zealand and the researcher in Africa?

well ... I emailed them and they are sending me summaries of their work on global warming. They are NOT funded by "big oil" or any of that bs. They ARE however pointing out that the IPCC is NOT running a decent peer review program. They are withholding facts, throwing out differing views, and ... oh wow ... I'm SO suprised [insert sarcasm here] playing to the media for attention and headlines.

that's the only way they get funding.

I'll be posting some of this when i get time to REALLY go over it.

Indeed. A very good story, and one worth keeping.
