In this election cycle, I have been pondering illegal immigration somewhat more than I generally do..
I have come to the following conclusions. Illegal immigration is:
1) Undemocratic. We the people should decide, on a democratic basis, whether through direct voting, or through representatives, how many people should be allowed to enter this nation in any given year.
2) Racist. Allowing people that have the particular geographic privilege of sharing a border with the US, or with a notion with limited enforcement of such borders to enter disproportionately favors Hispanics over all other races in terms of immigration.
3) a self-selecting methodology particularly suited toward getting the worst of the available options. For every Mexican gangster that we allow to remain, that's an Indian doctor denied. For every Guatemalan landscaper, that's a Chinese scientist that will make their discoveries over there.
