Liberal Big Lies - The Iraq War, neocons, Democrats

This isn't about whether or not you support that we went to war in Iraq. This is about Democrats rewriting history and the truth of who supported the Iraq invasion.

A flashback courtesy level-head regarding initial support for the Iraq War. It's worth reading and remembering, as the Liberals tirelessly work to rewrite history on everything.

Damn, reading that article has actually gotten me to reconsider my stance against the Iraq war. And I do remember arguing with about as many liberals as conservatives, neo- or otherwise, back then.

I still think we need to either fish or cut bait with respect to Iraq and Afghanistan in the present, though.

I was for it at the time. What people forget or deliberately ignore is that Saddam had two YEARS to comply and he could have kept all his power and wealth. He even promised the UN inspections "without conditions" in October prior to invasion, then broke the promise. To blame the reaction on the guy who gave him the deadline is ludicrous.

I've grown against them, primarily because both are cluster fucks of execution. I think the opening years of Iraq will be studied for centuries as a guideline of what not to do. Afghanistan is standard Liberal-wants-to-lose bullshit.

We should absolutely bail. There is no upside.

I'm in about the same position as our host, I think. The war was appropriate and necessary (and legal!), but the responsibility to complete it properly was handed off to a civilian authority (headed by Jerry Bremer) which was a disaster.

We've finally fixed Iraq, more or less, by continuing the Bush surge. This administration may not be capable of fixing Afghanistan and Pakistan -- and now the rest of the Middle East is coming apart. This looks like it will be a good year for the Muslim Brotherhood, and a bad year for civilization. (Not that dictators are good! But the likely alternative here is worse yet.)

Pretty much agreed.
