I'm so excited that you're writing again. :: BXG::

As I mentioned before, I really like the theme of Buffy being affirmed that she is lovable, that there is something worth hoping about in this life.

The part about Joyce is great. It does create that slight squirmy feeling because, yeah, it just never sounds good when you say it out loud to compare your lover to your mother. But it's also funny and touching and fitting, because Buffy is someone who has things that merit as "it sounded better in my head than out loud". *g*

I wonder if the Freudians have caught up with this? There must have been a study by now, "Oedipal longings in lesbians" or something. :-)

It's one of my favorite bits, too. I've long been of the opinion that Buffy's Season 6 depression wasn't a reaction to her own 'death,' but to Joyce's. That's why IMO she didn't really begin to pull out of it until the climax of "Normal Again," where she literally tells her mother goodbye. So it's no wonder that when she finds comfort and love here she involuntarily thinks of Joyce. And that the thing that would most touch her is to be told in return that she's like Joyce. Besides, Tara's right, Joyce was hot! :-)

You're got the best thinky thoughts. I've really missed that.

Tara's right, Joyce was hot!

I miss this stuff too. *G*

It was great to realize as I was writing that I still had a feel for the characters. Back when we were on Yahoo, I always felt like the fics we wrote were a continuation of the message board discussions. I miss those. :-( But it's good to know I can still write fic without them.

Thanks. Now that I've started again, I hope ideas keep coming.

Just had a look at The Sunnydale Herald. Wow, there sure are a lot of fan-fic writers around here! I wasn't even aware of their existence, so I guess they found me. Nice to know there's a central spot for finding fics.

Thanks, glad you liked it. From you avatar, I assume you share my boundless Tara-love.

I probably should write a thank you to The Sunnydale Herald, but if they found me, they must be everywhere. So, thanks Sunnydale Herald editors, wherever you are. :-)

Mel! Squee! That was an awesome piece of wonderfulness. I always saw Buffy as doubting her self-worth in the love department. You captured the affirmation beautifully. Also loved the bit about Joyce. She really was all that.

I'm glad you are here and you are writing again!

Cherry! :-) :-) :-)

Great to have friends check in. (Mocker sent me a thumbs-up via e-mail). I don't have any more story ideas right now, but all these nice responses are great motivation for more writing.

I loved your story. I was especially touched by Tara's capacity for compassion. Only Tara would see past the Hero to the need in the woman. Only Tara would be selfless enough to open herself up so completely. She knew how easy it was to love Buffy but rather than expend energy guarding against falling love she used her power to offer comfort, support. I totally get Buffy reading that kind of care as motherly. Buffy was the one who took care of everyone else, the protector. Joyce was one of the few people devoted to Buffy's care. Her death left a gaping hole in Buffy's support system. I can understand how wonderful it must have felt to finally have someone hold you, love you, shelter you after so long without it. You still have a wonderful ear for the voices of the characters. I felt myself teleported back to the Yahoo boards again. Total Kudos!
