oh also, our farmers markets out here just recently accepted wic/food stamp stuffs. i think within markets the trend to start going this way is getting big.food needs to be open to everyone. since it's still a small/growing market i think if you got enough people commenting/asking for it to the people who organize it in your area they'd consider it.
We have the tiniest farmer's market in my area but it's only open in the fall. They don't sell much good stuff, mostly jewelry and other kitsch items. But they have raw local honey that I am just in love with. I bought two jars last year but am almost in need of another. I am hoping they will start taking food stamps there at least. *cough*
I am not sure something like that would fly in my area though. It's very aimed at Hispanic customers. Most of the stores here are Mexican Markets. Once I asked if one place had anything organic in stalk and I got laughed at by the manager. He said no because the Mexican community hear didn't want any. I raged.
