This is beautiful and gorgeous. I woke up to the email saying this was posted and read it first thing, and then sgain when i was actually awake - which was right now. I could feel their grief. The doctor has lost so many people and to lose a child now, when he has before... And river, oh, river.

Heart-breaking.
But this is so beautiful, I love that he wanted to name the baby 'Shadow' from the regret he feels over the life he and River never had and will never have.
