She had woken to the smell of smoke, thick and pungent in the blackened sky. There were screams coming from the village, and she made to move, bewildered when she couldn’t move.  There was a heavy weight pressing her to her bed, and she struggled to regain her breath, eyes making out a figure in the dark.

You can't imagine how surprised (and overly excited) I was when I saw a newer version of a story I used to follow before. I just happened to be here for 'Helping Hand' (because I was in desperate need for a fic), but this is what I got instead. I guess I can count myself lucky. (:
