While I'm on the topic of new journals. . .

Jan 07, 2009 09:14

Towards the end of 2008, I created gaias_jewel and now in light of the potential, though not likely LJ troubles, I got gaiasjewel over at InsaneJournal (just like my main journal, there won't be any content there unless something happens to LJ). I intend to use it as a very informal blog and an in for various jewelry communities for the jewelry business I'm ( Read more... )

Feel free to poke me periodically to make sure I'm progressing. ;)

Yay for silly things people dubbed me with about 10 years ago. :)

Ooo, neat! Be sure to let us know when you start putting stuff on etsy. I'm a jewelry freak as well as a shoe whore!

I definitely will! I was admiring your necklace and earring set on NYE. You have good taste. :)

Thank you! They were my grandmother's ... can't recall when she ever wore them, but I've inherited them, so I might as well get good use out of them.

Just in case LJ goes belly-up, I've started an account on Insane Journal. I'm oropher_777 there, too. Can't say I like it as well as LJ, but just in case ...

Hey there. I just wanted to tell you how much your love and support has meant to me this past year. I have had a difficult year and your support has been unwavering. Thank you for being you!

Aw, that's sweet. I only wish I could have done more. All I can really do is give you cyber *hugs* from afar, but if they make you feel better, I'm happy to give them. :)

Hey, have you thought about doing supplies along with your made creations on etsy or whatever store you do? I'd rather buy the special stuff from a friend than a stranger!

I have thought about that, actually. Especially once I get the tools and hone the skills for silversmithing. I thought I could do settings, pendants, clasps and other findings. I've even thought about doing things like the hook/eye closures on Legolas' shirt and other such items for costumers. It's a niche market, I know, but I think people would appreciate having the option to buy them, especially from a fellow costumer.

Yeah, things like the toggles would go over well, I think. When I remember the hell I had finding the right stuff for Faramir and then ending up having to get it custom made, I could tear my hair out. I'd be very interested in specialty stones and settings for my work.

And there are little things like that in nearly every fandom, so the potential for such a line is nearly endless.

Stone cutting is something I eventually want to get into as well, but one thing at a time. First things first with the silversmithing.
