Batgirl fabrics are in!

Well, I must hand it to Distinctive Fabrics. Although it took them a week to ship my swatches (and I don't mean transit time), they had my actual yardage order out in 24 hours. I'd like to see how the clays turn out. I've been wanting to play with those myself, but haven't found the time. Oh, and a friend of mine used wood putty for armor and raved about it.

You shouldn't need to prewash those. Shrinkage isn't typically a problem there. The lycra can be washed in cold water, but I would just spot clean the PVC, or hand wash if it's desperate. The PVC tends to break down pretty quickly.

I've played with the foam clay before, but never for something like this. Never tried to sand it or make it look like anything besides foam. It seems like pretty much the same stuff as craft foam when it's dry, so I'm hoping it works. I've not worked with the paper clay before, but I'm wondering if it's kind of heavy, like Sculpy, when dry. Lighter is better in this particular application and I know the foam clay is really light when dry.

Wood putty, eh? Interesting!

Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely going to want to be able to wash the lycra parts of the finished costume, but not so much the PVC. So, I'll just leave that one alone and spot clean like you suggest.
