hmm, while I know a couple of glass blowers and lampwork artists, I think I'll stick to plexiglass for version 1.0, then once the movie is out and there are more details on it, I can go back and revamp with something nicer if I want. thanks for the advice!
You could pick up some ice cycles from a x-mas shop and work with them.
If not an option I just wanted to give a word of advice on using Plexiglass or acrylic. Fame buffing is the easiest way to make the edges clear and shiny. If you don't have a blowtorch, I bet you can achieve the same effect with on of those long big lighters (but the blowtorch will allow you to finish it in a tenth of the time. The dremel will take way too long.
hmm, icicles might be too rounded, I'm not sure, I guess it would depend on the icicles. but hey, great advice on the blow torch! I've been wanting to get a jewelry torch (have a pen torch, but it's mostly for soldering) and that would probably work. I could even do some "melty" effects with it if I use heat. Would have never thought of that, thanks!
