Most of the time I love it when people are stunned that I am the mother of a nearly 14 year old.

Then there are the times no one takes me seriously because I look and sound about 15 years younger than I actually am.

I'm serious -- I've been passed over for jobs because I was taken for a teenager.  Ignored at meetings.  Patronized.  Carded.  You name ( Read more... )

I'd suggest a large sign which you hang around your neck... with your date of birth on it. barring that.... a rhinestone t-shirt with the year on it. :-)

Imagine when they meet my 17 year old, and think we're a couple.

I don't know what to tell you, people tell me to be flattered but I'm getting pretty tired of being carded everywhere when my 20 year old friends walk through.

It's humiliating, not the being carded, but the reaction after.

This is the same as EVERY day at work when i mention my kids and people say "you can't be old enough to have a baby!"...

I find it easiest to get it out of the way right away, bringing up the kids as quickly as possible.
