Nightmares.....

I've had problems with nightmares for the past few nights. I don't really know why, but one of them was excruciatingly painful. Any suggestions for keeping nightmares at bay? A friend of mine used to have a few beers at night before bed and that would usually help, but alcohol tends to give me migraines.

We got in to doing this thing every (freaking) night, where we wrote a note to our subconscious (sp?) before crawling into bed. The note we wrote (very repeatedly) was something like, nightmares are not necessary or helpful, please give us dreams - we will listen. (Pretty much word for word.) Then we kept a notebook and pen by the lamp, and did our best to live up to that. Had some pretty weird scribbles from trying to jot down dreams when we were still mostly asleep, but it seems to have worked for the most part.

Hope you get out of that nightmare thing soon - those suck. :(

This is an intriguing idea. I think I will try it. :-) The nightmares are very hard on me physically and emotionally, but I have to admit I do think they are trying to tell me something useful. I know from experience that this is the way my intuition works. If I don’t listen closely enough to it during my waking hours, then it will haunt me in my dreams to get it's point across. Less dramatic dreams are too easily forgotten for me. I think my subconscious sends traumatic dreams to make its point when it perceives that it has no other choice because I’m not listening during my waking hours. The few nightmares I've had lately - I've known the message my mind was trying to send me almost immediately. But it’s a damn shame to wake up so upset that I upset my husband and fear going back to sleep. However, if I can convince my subconscious to give me a break and promise to try to listen to less painful dreams a little closer then maybe, just maybe I can stop being traumatized by my own brain and literally afraid to go to sleep at ( ... )

Yeah, we've had god luck with tapes. music, and mavies also. But the biggest deal for us seems to have been to keep that promise of listening, whether the dream was a nightmare or not.

Read a book back in the darkages on Lucid dreaming. Concept is faily easy, you are truely in full control of your dreams and actually control your own dreams to great lenght.. now if I could only remember the name of the book...lol..
