FAIRY TAIL OR DEFENSE DEVIL. The latter is practically unheard of BUT AMAZING.

It starts but silly but get more serious as it progresses, like Shounen manga tend to do.

I remember when I read Hikaru no Go. I was so disappointed when I finished. ;__;

Fairy Tail rocks, but Defense Devil isn't up to my standards (but I have high expectations) compared to the mangakas' last series Shin Angyo Onshi.
BUT but have you read Bakuman (also drawn by Obata), Hunter x Hunter (on hiatus), or Liar Game (art is weird but the plot is so so good, also on hiatus)?

i've heard someone else say the ending was disappointing, but! I'm going to read it myself and make my own opinion about it.

One Piece doesn't appeal to me, so i don't really have any motivation to read Fairy Tail. I've been considering Bakuman. it seems like the only thing that relatively interests me atm. i think i'm going to stay away from any series that are on hiatus. really, i need something that can help fill the gap of waiting for volumes of togainu no chi, loveless, and dgm. ;;;;

i have not heard/read liar game. i guess i should've also mentioned that i want a manga series that i can buy. i dislike reading manga online. :P

ahhh, my pickiness isn't helping me find manga. ;;;;

maybe i should just pick up Tsubasa before it goes out of print...

Bakuman's really interesting! Takes you inside Shounen Jump and everything.
If you like Hikaru no Go, you should definitely give it a try.

Oh, I could've sworn Liar Game was licensed. XD Still good, if it ever gets licensed in english.
I would recommend more, but I think everything I read right now is only available online/doesn't interest you. o.o;; Pickiness is good. I'm really picky about what I read too, which is why I don't read manga that much. You need to savor the good ones after all. :D

I think it is, it sounds vaguely familiar anyway, i was just saying. :P
i always thought pickiness was bad. xD i'm mostly picky about art, but if i happen to start reading it and the story is really good, it won't matter. Just initially, i go for art.
