I misread the schedule. I thought that the playoff rounds to determine the Elite Eight took place on the 23rd and the 25th - that is, regionals on the 23rd and 25th, and then the regional finals sometime after that (but before April 1st). What it actually was was regionals on 23rd (to get eight) and regional finals on the 25th (to get four). I still wouldn't have watched the game but I might have been checking the score more closely had I known.
What amazes me is that I have heard nothing about this from my friend Rose, who IS an enormous basketball fan and also an enormous LSU fan. Go figure. Maybe she's given up basketball now that she lives in Brooklyn, where they have no sports.
