friday night: left for philly. but first, checked air in tires. 24 psi, the little book says it should be 32. that explains my crappy gas mileage (where crappy = 30 mpg. i laugh at suv drivers.) off to southside hess and its free air dispenser. some bastard has parked in front of it. off to main street hess. i try to put air in, check and it's gone down to 16 psi. "decklin, i'm doing this wrong." he comes out and tries to put air in, it gets worse. i go in and tell them it's not working. "you have to push the handle down all the way." "we were." "oh. well, we'll put a sign on it." i drive down main street with my newly flat tire to yet another gas station where we spent $1 on air, of all the things to spend money on. car much happier now.

moral of that story: i am not always incompetent.

saturday: drove to suu. went to atlantic city. saw a bald, burly guy in a hooters shirt on the boardwalk with a tiny, fuzzy little black dog. went into the tropicana and played nickel slots. it was shiny as all hell. there were old ladies with cigarettes in wheelchairs just feeding the machines. i spent about ten bucks and won five on a game called "full of sheep". then we went to hibachi and all had sake. decklin and i got in a fight on the way home and that's just the way things have been lately and i don't feel like writing about it. i have no desire to write anything about anything remotely important, actually, at least not for public consumption. i could go into detail about what the combination of excessive food and stress did to my overly sensitive digestive system, but that would be thoroughly unnecessary.

sunday: drove decklin to center city to catch a bus to his house for spring break. well, the parents drove. i don't do so well driving in cities. on the way out of the parking garage, i was knitting in the back seat and the cashier wanted to see what i was making (a scarf out of lion brand homespun. i can't decide how long it needs to be, but it's pretty long now. i guess i'll just finish up the skein). we went to target, where i bought a wok and didn't find any car seat covers i liked. i'd make some if i knew how. then drove back to ny with the stereo turned up, singing at the top of my lungs. stopped at binghamton to see if michael's was still open because i have intentions of scrapbooking the road trip photos from last august, but it wasn't. then i remembered they have scrapbook crap at walmart. duh. so i went to barnes & noble and bought an issue of readymade. i was going to buy a gratuitous billy collins book,, but they were inventorying the poetry section and i was intimidated.

for all of my homesickness i didn't go to wawa once. bah! i shall have to go back. and the car insists it has half a tank of gas left, which is unlikely but would be nice. now i am home for some values of home, and the coffee has worn off and i am tired and must wake up at 6.
