Where have I been?
I've been paying off my student loans, that's where. Now the repayment is over & my former brain is gradually resurfacing through the stress fog. I do wonder why the date on this Live Journal entry is written in Russian (?) it says: 14 декабря 2022. I'd love to get back to writing longer form entries. A Russian company bought Live Journal years ago. It seems to work about as well as it always did, though.

The student loan system is a money pit for borrowers. The interest piled on to the point where my total amount owed was about a quarter of a million dollars. With every payment I made, I owed more. According to law, I would never be eligible for Social Security or Medicare in old age if I had unpaid student loan debt hanging over my head. Thankfully I've been working in public service full-time for ten years, and I was never late on a payment, so I qualified for the 10-year Student Loan Forgiveness program. I hadn't realized how much this debt was affecting me until it was gone. I can feel my creativity coming back. It really is like a fog is lifting.
I can't wait to get all caught up & see what everyone has been up to over the past 11 years! I'm back to making art and writing a play.

I still check in now and again. I write the occasional update. A lot has happened since I started here. I hate modern social media. This format was far superior. Glad you're well. I may write something soon but my spirits aren't that high!
