You've taken Missouri out! Tut tut - not that she was ever particularly pleasant to Dean in the show anyway ... (I get protective of the boy!)
John is absent - not so much of an AU then as it turns out - unless you bring him back ... though as Sam so astutely points out 'he finds it so much easier to see them as a family of two now.'
Ouch - that line 'nothing can live unless something dies' sounds somehow prophetic ... you've got those boys all angsty and hurty - so what happens next?

Well, actually I didn't, the fic was a John death fic a while ago, but I thought I'd prefer it if he lived. Go figure.

I love the dynamic you're finding here. There's banter and angst and just this sense of going on despite it all. It's just persistence, but filled with all the doubts and fears neither will speak.

Sam getting crushed by a zombie and Dean just watching--priceless ("she liked you"!).

And I love Sam's reflection on how it's easier to think of John as dead. At a certain point, they have to deal with the here and now because there's more than enough between them to keep them busy.

Looking forward to more!

Of course it's pre-premiere, but it's so real, that it still works so well. And besides the premiere broke me into a thousand little pieces so reading yours is a nice breath of fresh air.
