Minus the technology, this was my adolescent though process. I have to admit, I still think this way sometimes. Objectively, I'm not sure I was all that wrong, really, since I did have occasion to interact with girls and get stomped on. For the most part, you're correct Girls had no idea how to talk to boys. Boys had no clue how to speak to a girl. Its a wonder the species procreates at the amazing pace it does. Somehow, we find a person who'll listen for a second, and it works out.

Yeah. I think I've whinged about the realization that there were boys in my high school who thought I was cute and NEVER BLOODY SAID ANYTHING about it. (All of the ones I'm aware of certainly spoke to me.) Granted, I also didn't say anything back, but that was in part because I let my teen angst stand in the way of old age and treachery. (When your history teacher says, "Hey, Z has a crush on you. Either do something about it or stop toying with him," the correct response is to do something about it or stop playing with him, not say, "No, Z couldn't have a crush on meeeee.")
