I recommend hiding all the stupid quizzes & games that people post -- with them it feels like LJ several years ago when every did all the stupid memes/quizzes. One can only hope the appeal dies down on FB too eventually.

having been there for a while now, your assessment sounds about right. it's easier to check for FB updates than it is to check for LJ updates (and so i often check FB first). but it's immeasurably more rewarding to catch up on LJ and find out what people are actually doing and thinking and feeling.
people who are still on LJ, that is, as opposed to the ones who've migrated their lives over to FB. some of those at least have the decency to close off their LJ accounts.

At the risk of sounding unbearably snotty, I prefer LJ for my real friends, and FB for keeping up with acquaintances. No real thought required on FB.

My FB account is largely for keeping up with some of the guys I know from Film School, with a side of random people I knew in high school and college. Current friends are welcome, but they could readily skip it and not miss anything important to me.
