Art: See, I don't really HATE Paul

Feb 09, 2010 22:16

Not much to say here except for the fact that I really probably should not have spent my entire evening doing this. But the urge hit me and the drawing just happened, so what can I do? I'm a slave to my creative whims.

And then George later ruins it all with his creeper face while declaring, "A SONG!" Terrifying.

Aww, I like the army sgt... I think he looks so adorably out of place done up like that. But of course he single-handedly makes the movie. He's the only one who card! John and George spent the entire thing sleeping in their seats.

But I do love how he tells Ringo that "It's coming!" like he's talking to a child. LOL

i'd be asleep if i was forced into something i didn't want want to do and had the option to sleep

Well Ringo is annoying with his childish enquiries of "WHERE'S TH'BUS?" though I do love it.

I had a dream last night that I was stuck on that bus. It was weird.

I really have no technical feedback to offer, but this is adorable. Maybe this is weird, but I like the background and whatever technique you used for that a lot. Wow I'm so useful.

Also, I SEE YOUR CURRENT MUSIC :D

I'm going to go watch Paul frolic on his hill now, I feel compelled.

Thank you! The background was... I dunno. When I was colouring Paul, the background was just a light minty green, but then I smeared colours and used some of my star and cloud brushes (but you can't really tell because they're smeared) and I ended up liking it. Does it look magical? It's supposed to look magical.

OMG, I WOKE UP WITH THAT SONG IN MY HEAD AND IT'S BEEN IN THERE ALL DAMN DAY. AND WORST OF ALL, I CHECKED MY GEORGE HARRISON FOLDER ON MY LAPTOP AND I ACTUALLY DO NOT HAVE AN MP3 OF THAT SONG SO I'VE JUST BEEN PLAYING YOUTUBE IN THE BACKGROUND AND IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE.

Lol, I actually kind of watched bits and pieces of the movie today while doing this. When I Googled for reference pictures, I couldn't find any, so I popped my DVD of the movie into the desktop and went from there. OH PAUL, THIS MOVIE PROVES THAT YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR IS PRETTY PATHETIC.

Hahahaha "Got My Mind Set On You" is like the one George Harrison song my last.fm doesn't keep playing, possibly because I listen to All Things Must Pass approximately 3000 times more than any other of his albums and anything that's not the Beatles.

That segment will never not cause me to laugh disturbingly loud and long, oh man. I just laughed so hard I couldn't breathe for a second at the close-up of Paul's dopey face. OH PAUL, YOU'RE SO HOPELESSLY UNCOOL AND THAT SOMEHOW ENDEARS ME TO YOU BIGTIME.

How does last.fm work exactly? It's an ear worm anyway. I tried listening to other random catchy songs, or even trying to get a different George song stuck in my head. For a moment, I thought I had it beaten as I was humming along to "A Very Potter Musical" but then suddenly, that music stopped and in the lull... "I GOT MY MIND SEEEEEEEET OOOOON YOU! I GOT MY MIND SEEEEET OOOOOOON YOU!" *headdesk*

I'm amused by the fact that I learned on the Anthology that Paul ran off to France to film the Fool on the Hill segment, and then later learned what he did was totally against union regulations. Uh... oops?

The bus is ten miles north on the Dewsbury Road... glockgal February 10 2010, 15:20:29 UTC
...and they're having a lovely time!

omg the way quotes from the entire wizard sequence made way into regular friend-speak from high school to now! Even to this day, BFF will ask "Where'th the buth?" XD

ANYWAY, I'm just saying, that, you know. This demands fic where Paul is a substitute teacher for DADA during the Marauder Era, or something. Just saying. >.> At least, this is all I could think of when I re-watched MMT, and seeing wizard!Paul in fanart form only solidifies my theory.

AND NOW, THE LARCH TECHNICAL STUFF:
OMG you made the pen tool work how it should work!! Beziers still drive me NUTS, so though I've kinda learned it, I never really got used to it and went back to using paintbrush to ink. Paintbrush only starts to make sense the more you use it; at first I too was like 'wtf this is easier to do manually' as well.

But the beauty of pen tool is indeed how well it imitates actual inking brushstrokes, as if you used a calligraphic pen to ink. Plus, the lines are so much more smoother and crisp because they're vector. ( ... )

Whenever I reference this movie (and that scene) NO ONE EVER GETS IT. Ugh, the people I know around me are so disappointing sometimes!

Ahahaha, yes, that would be a BRILLIANT crossover fic! Oh the whacky hijinks of Professor McCartney!

I'm glad you think it worked out! I kind of like it myself and while it's a pain to ink with the pen tool because it takes FOREVER, I like the payoff. And yeah, I need to work on my colouring techniques and find a style that suits me. (OH COLOUR THEORY, WE NEVER DID MUCH WITH YOU IN ART CLASS AND I SUFFER FOR IT NOW) My main problem is trying to find something that ends up looking organic instead of bold colours, because when I draw in black and white I layer and get all sketchy and stuff, but the moment I try and add colour all my drawings tend to lose their life.

idk fuck all about photoshop but this is insanely good! begs the question...why did he have a red nose? although any time spent trying to make sense of anything in that film is wasted time :p

I have no idea. Why did Ringo have circles drawn around his eyes instead of actually wearing glasses? Then again, IMDB lists Paul as playing the "Brown-Nosed Wizard" sooooo... there's a jok in there.
