Boy it's been a long time since I posted fic! Sheesh! I'm not sure where this one came from, but I'm glad it's here. The no-food-coloring rule is based on a friend of mine with a similar rule, and the domestic-ish Charlie/Billy mood is designed to make t_vo0810 smile. And maybe to blackmail her into posting a certain something sometime... Ahem. Yay fic!

Beet-colored red velvet is a real thing. Alyssa and her bakery, however, are fabrications.

First off, please excuse my while I flail with excitement over seeing fic... by Melissima on my friends list.

*flops around and flails and runs like guy in her icon*

OK. Second, I love the domestic-ish feel of this... with Billy knowing that Charlie's mood might not be from the thought of red velvet cake (and Billy forgetting) but because of the math not cooperating.

And the ending? FANTASTIC.

*happy grin. Just the little pick me up I needed to get me through the last hour of work. *hugs and high fives

Edited to fix a typo and to add words that LJ apparently ate... or maybe I ate them? I don't know. It's kind of hungry here at 5pm when it's almost time to go home. LOL.

Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Candi! I've been writing a lot this year, but most of it wasn't fic and almost all of it has not been shared with anybody.

This one just came together like...like cake and frosting. Sweet and easy.

Okay, this I love!

Billy and Charlie being all domestic and sweet...Billy knowing Charlie so well...and the not-Red Velvet cupcake...

I'll take Charlie's red velvet cake if he doesn't want it (and I'll take Billy when he's done, but that's a whole other thing). That is, without doubt, my favorite cake. And you made food porn out of it!

I'd squee, but I think Audrey beat me to it. Yum!

seriously, i love this whole drabble so hard. and that you wrote it w me in mind just makes it all the more special. you have such a gift for charlie/billy, i am seriously. but that aside, how did you contain so much heart and humor and familiarity in such a short word span? you are impressive, my friend. quite impressive. i adore this. i adore you. i wanna hug your brain.

I just read this one and the sequel; I've been reading lots of Charlie Angst lately. It's so nice to read one where he's getting what he wants. I still haven't seen the Coop episode, but this will be in the back of my mind when I do.

He sure does. Which reminds me, yesterday I read "Brother Mine" on the site of t_vos. I sent her(?) fb, but I saw you are the co-author. What a great original set of ideas! The writing was so cinematic (the fantastic video helped with this). I could just see the mechanical koi, and Lawrence.

I imagine after two years, the muse has moved on. But do let me know if you've published beyond the third chapter somewhere else, or if you and t_vos ever write more of it.

Hi there!

Thank you for your kind words. I'll be sure to share them with t_vo0810 as we talk most days.

Brother Mine is not a WIP. It's written completely - it just needed a lot of editing because we wrote it so fast.

Eventually it'll be posted completely, but unfortunately it won't be soon. I have had to return to college, and I don't have the time I once did for writing and editing fic.

I plan to work on it during my winter break, so it's possible there will be more posted in the first quarter of 2013.
