"I find it distasteful that we as a society enslave intelligent wild animals and force them to entertain us." Brennan said, pausing to double check the label on the archive drawer before she closed it.
"You can't be serious, Bones. You never saw The Bad News Bears?"
"It's a baseball movie, honey," Angela said, "A judge sentences this washed up professional player to coach a bunch of kids who don't play very well."
"Classic nerd vindication movie," Jack enthused. "I must've watched it eight million times as a kid!" He nudged Zach and chanted, "A busted bat and a long fly ball..."
"I don't know what that means," said Zach.
Jack threw up his hands. "That's it! I'm calling for pizza and you guys are coming to my place for movie night." said Jack, pulling out his cell phone. "Pepperoni work for everybody?"
"Oh yeah!" said Booth. "Get double pepperoni. Ooh and extra cheese. Gotta love extra cheese."
"Sweetie I'm all for you and Booth having a manly meatfest, but can you get me a veggie with feta and extra tomatoes?" Angela tilted her head and smiled winningly at him. "Brennan and I'll split it."
"But I like pepperoni and extra cheese." Brennan said softly, leaning toward Angela with a worried expression.
"I like veggie pizza Dr. Brennan," Zach piped up. "You can join the manly meatfest and I'll share with Angela. That is...if you don't mind, Angela." It was Zach's turn to look worried, glancing between Angela and Jack, who looked half ready to announce that he'd be sharing whatever Angela decided to order, thank you very much.
"Sounds like a plan to me," Angela said, patting Zach's shoulder even as she gave Jack a pointed look.
"Oh ho, if we're sharing with Bones we're gonna need an extra pie. Have you guys ever seen her eat pizza? For somebody so skinny she can really put it away! I mean, woah, watch your fingers, man!" He mimed jerking his hand back from the imaginary pizza box.
"I have a very healthy metabolism," Brennan reasoned, "And I offered you the last piece. You said you didn't want it."
"It's a manners thing, Bones. Nobody's supposed to take the last slice. You leave it there out of politeness and then whoever's house it is gets to eat it for breakfast the next day."
"I have excellent manners, which is why I offered it to you even though I wanted it. Besides, I don't like pizza for breakfast."
Angela held out her hand for Jack's phone, and he passed it over. "Yes, I'd like three large double pepperoni, double cheese, and two large veggie, one with feta and extra tomatoes, under Hodgins." she quirked an eyebrow at Jack, and he nodded. "He'll pick it up. Great, thanks!" She flipped the phone closed and handed it back to him. "There. Now nobody has to be polite."
"Hodgins, can we have movie night again next week?" Zach's smile was blinding.
"I don't know yet, Zach, let's see if these two can handle eating popcorn from the same bowl first." Jack threw his arm around Zach's neck. "C'mon, you can help me carry the pizzas."
"I can share a bowl with Booth." Brennan called after them as they headed out, " I'll just put his chocolate covered raisins back, once I've separated them from the kernels."
Booth rolled his eyes and took his suit jacket from the back of her office chair. "You probably don't like peanut butter and jelly either, do you?"
"Is it crunchy peanut butter, or smooth?"
Angela grinned as she made her way around the lab turning off all the lights. She decided to suggest a couple of episodes of 'Moonlighting' for the next 'movie' night.
