Wow it's been a while since I wrote any gen! It's fun to spend time with these boys when they were young--all their brotherly issues are fully formed and since they don't have jobs, I can focus on their relationship.
My favorite thing about this little incident: Don is committed to protecting Charlie, even if it means getting beaten badly himself. But Charlie is no less protective, no less committed. The odds aren't really three to one right from the beginning. Wonder why it took Don so many years to figure that out? *g*
I am so grateful to emmademarais for her patience, support and skill from word one right to the sixth and final draft. /Smishes/ I learn so much from you, and I have so much fun doing it! Thank you.

Ohhh... I love this! I love seeing Young!Don and Young!Charlie teaming up! Such a logical thing for Charlie to do, look for help closer to hand than hope.
I ♥ this drabble. Not only do I love this moment between the brothers - a rare one where their solidarity and love transcend childish rivalries - but I love the feel of it. The language feels like jabs, short strikes that hit you where it hurts. We wince on Don's behalf because you make us feel what he feels and you help us see the very real danger he's facing.
Don assumes he's his brother's keeper, but it never occurs to him that Charlie sees that as his duty - more his right and privilege - as well.
Finished fic! Man that's a happy thing! /is gleeful/
Aw, Melissima, that was sweet. There are so many stories where Don protects his little brother, but not many where Charlie returns the favor. I love it!

You'd think a hotshot G-man would cotton on a little quicker, wouldn't you? :D

I am not a big kid!fic person either, but for Numb3rs I think it works because there's such a big family aspect in canon.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
